Rose Barrett to Head to St. Joseph’s University

Athlete Name: Rose Barrett

College: Saint Joseph’s University

Sport: Track/Cross Country

Why did you choose to go to this college?

I visited a lot of colleges but when I was on the SJU campus I felt like I could really see myself going there which I hadn’t felt at other schools. Also, I like the location a lot and everything seemed to just click between me and the coaches and other teammates.

Why do you think you’ve been so successful?

Coach Briggs and Coach Fromuth are the best and so all I did was try to listen to them and do what they said, just follow the schedule and training the best I could and give my best effort especially on the days when I didn’t really want to.

What are the biggest highlights of your running career at FTHS?

Last year I got to run on a 4×8 relay at the Meet of Champs, and running at groups this year in Cross-Country.

What will you miss most about running at FTHS?

I’ll miss all my teammates; it’s been so much fun running with them everyday over the last four years.

Who has had the biggest influence on your running career?

My coaches have definitely been a big influence and they have helped me so much by getting me to where I am. Also my parents have been so supportive and have never missed a race.

What advice would you give to younger teammates who are just starting out?

I would tell them that it’s definitely not easy, and there are days where it may not seem worth it, but you should never give up, because it is 100% worth it and you won’t regret the work you put in.

Coach Briggs on Rose Barrett and her commitment to Saint Joseph’s University:
