Last Season: 12-14

Head Coach: Mike Gaeta, 3rd Season as Head Coach, 9th year’s total

Captain: Mike Plaska

Top Returners: We have our returning seniors which consists of Captain Mike Plaska who placed 4th in districts last year with a regular season record of 21-6, Nick Mangini, Taylor Larkin, Joe Bucciero, and Mike Crawford. Top juniors are Larson Johnson, Mike Carlucci, and Brandon Pagano who all have varsity experience. Top sophomores are Kyle Hillermeier and Kyle Cleary are returning starters. Eric Quarty saw some varsity time last year as well.

Expectations for 2015-2016 Season: With only a total of six seniors, four of them returning, and three returning juniors we are faced with a young team this year. An interview with the head coach, Mike Gaeta, he has faith in the young team. Although he did mention he expects very big things from Captain Mike Plaska. Gaeta mentioned that kids on the team “Need to develop a little bit and they can do big things”. As mentioned before, this year’s team is young and may have a bit of trouble with facing experienced wrestlers. Even though this is true, Gaeta has faith that the team can be successful. Gaeta mentions that “We have to do our part then wrestlers will do their part, and we’ll be successful”. When he says we he means the coaches. Our head coach believes as long as we develop and perform the correct way, we will have a successful season.

Key Matches: The key match-ups for this year is anyone who is in our division. This consists of Boro, Manalapan, Marlboro, Howell, etc.. Also CBA is always a big match-up because of how our schools are very competitive. Out of all of the matches mentioned before, the biggest match-up will probably be Boro. We are huge rivals with them and a win from that will be divisionally helpful and morally helpful. Also Manalapan and Howell are always big matches because some wrestlers on our team know people from those teams. But they are still important divisionally. All these match-ups are key to having successful seasons.
