By using this data, Spotify is able to differentiate between what kind of music you really enjoy and the ones you do not. In order to get the best weekly playlist, make sure you always add your favorite music into your library!

The company also tries to bring a sense of comfort into the “Discover Weekly” playlist by making the constant number in a playlist 30 songs since it’s an explorable amount without being overwhelming, but still personal and intimate. In addition, Spotify always throws in one or two songs by an artist you’ve previously listened to so that you feel a sense of trust and familiarity.

Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” doesn’t only make it easier for listeners to find music they enjoy, but it helps undiscovered artists gain popularity. In fact, more than 8,000 artists on Spotify said half of their listeners found them through these playlists. The “Discover Weekly” playlist was introduced in July of 2015 and has gained much popularity since due to the genius personal touch behind it.
