Andre Drummond is a beast; there is just no other way to put it. The 6’11, 280 pound center for the Detroit Pistons has been on an absolute tear this season. He is ripping down boards like it is nobody’s job and is blooming into a superstar before our eyes.

The center out of UCONN was drafted by the Pistons with the ninth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and being taken with that high of a pick comes with great expectations. He is meeting those expectations and even going higher. Drummond is averaging a monstrous 19.6 rebounds per game through seven games, along with 19.4 points per game.  He has had three 20 point-20 rebound performances this season. One was versus the Portland Trail Blazers where he scored 29 points and grabbed 27 rebounds, the other was versus the Indiana Pacers when he scored 25 points and had 29 rebounds, and the last was versus the Chicago Bulls when he had 20 points and 20 rebounds. The game that really stands out is when he went up against the Pacers. Drummond had 11 offensive rebounds that game alone whereas the Pacers only had 12 total offensive rebounds for their whole team. This means he nearly single-handedly out rebounded a whole team on the offensive boards. Also, due to his outstanding performances Drummond is the first since Wilt Chamberlain to have 135 points and 135 rebounds at this point in the season. In case you didn’t know, Wilt Chamberlain happens to be one of the greatest players of all-time.

Andre Drummond is a one-man wrecking crew right now, and it won’t be long until he is an all-star and a household name in the NBA.
