The NBA Play-In Tournament has received plenty of negative feedback since it was created… but this year’s edition had some great games that should hopefully put that negativity to rest.
Hornets vs. Heat
The Hornets and Heat kicked off the Play-In with an instant classic that saw the game go into overtime. The back-and-forth game saw Charlotte squeeze out a victory at the last second. LaMelo Ball hit a layup with 5 seconds left, and Miles Bridges had a block at the buzzer to win the game. The Hornets won this game 127-126.
Trail Blazers vs. Suns
Another great game for the Play-In pitted the Trail Blazers against the Suns, as Portland came away with the 114-110 win. Deni Avdija had 41 points, 7 rebounds, and 12 assists in the victory. Rip City will face off against the Spurs.
Magic vs. 76ers
This was a good matchup between two tough teams, but the 76ers were able to outplay the Magic. Tyrese Maxey had 31 points and 6 assists as he led the way for Philadelphia to snag the #7 seed, setting up a date with the Celtics.
Warriors vs. Clippers
Stephen Curry had a great game for the Warriors, scoring 35 points as Golden State barely won 126-121. The loss for the Clippers ends their season on a sour note after having a terrific second half to make the Play-In.
Hornets vs. Magic
The Magic ended the Hornets’ head-turning season as they dominated them throughout the game, winning 121-90. This win for Orlando makes them the #8 seed and sets them up to play the Pistons.
Warriors vs. Suns
The Warriors and Stephen Curry struggled to keep up with the Suns in this game for the #8 seed. Curry only had 17 points, while Jalen Green had 36 points for Phoenix. The Suns would get the 111-96 victory and secure the #8 seed, where they will play the Thunder.
