Greetings, it’s AJ once again, and today I’ll be talking about my most anticipated movies of 2026: no specific order, just the order of release. Let’s go!
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
I enjoyed the first 28 Years Later, but I wasn’t super hyped about the ending. This looks better than the first and is making me think the first was just a setup. Can’t wait!
The Bride!
I’m a big fan of Frankenstein, and I love that The Bride of Frankenstein is getting her own story. The trailer for this looks fire. Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, and Jake Gyllenhaal have me hyped, and this is written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. I’ll be there on day one!
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
I’ve always been a Mario guy, and this looks beautiful! I thought the first movie was just cute, but this looks like it’s going to be so much better. Plus, one of my best friends is super hyped for this movie, so I’m looking forward to seeing the smile on his face throughout the whole thing. I’ll be there once it’s out!
Michael
MJ is one of my favorite music artists of all time. I love the Broadway show too, and this looks like it’ll be one of the best biopics to come out about any artist yet. Plus, I think Jaafar can really pull this off. Looking forward to this one!
Obsession
This film looks like the definition of a sleeper. It’s also another film created by a content creator. The teaser for this movie is excellent—short and ominous. Exactly what a trailer for this kind of movie should be. I’m very intrigued.
MK2
I didn’t really think the first Mortal Kombat was all that good, but this looks like it’s going to be a blast! Plus, Karl Urban as Johnny Cage?! Shut up and take my money!!
Disclosure Day
This is the newest film from one of my favorite filmmakers of all time, Steven Spielberg. This seems to be about aliens, and that teaser absolutely has my attention! Plus, Emily Blunt is fantastic. I’ll be in line!
Supergirl
I loved Superman so much, and I think this has a lot of potential! James Gunn isn’t directing but is producing and is an integral part of this film. The director is Craig Gillespie, of I, Tonya, so I’m very excited for this.
The Odyssey
This is my most anticipated movie of 2026!! Nolan is in my top three directors ever. Oppenheimer is one of my all-time favorites, and so is Interstellar. This looks amazing, and I will be seeing this in IMAX. I’m there!!!!
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
I’m so hyped that we’re getting yet another Spider-Man movie! Plus, in my opinion, Tom is my second-favorite live-action Spider-Man behind Tobey. I’m surprised he got a trilogy, let alone four movies. Plus, Punisher is going to be in this one?! Expect me there on the first day!
Coyote vs. Acme
I’m so glad this is getting a theatrical release! This has crazy potential. I love Will Forte, Road Runner, and Wile E. I decently enjoyed The Day the Earth Blew Up, and I’m excited to see this when it comes out!
Clayface
We still haven’t gotten a trailer for this just yet, but I am very excited for it to come out. It’s directed by James Watkins of Speak No Evil, which is an absolute gem, and if he can bring the tension from that film here, we’re in for something good. Also, this will probably be my first time seeing Max Minghella in anything. I’m looking forward to it!
Resident Evil
Now, I know what you’re thinking… aren’t these movies bad? Well, Zach Cregger of Barbarian and Weapons is directing this, and that alone makes this my most anticipated video game movie this year. I liked Barbarian, but I LOVED Weapons! It was super close to making my top 10, but somehow didn’t. Either way, I’m very excited about Resident Evil.
Godzilla Minus Zero
Godzilla Minus One is one of my favorite movies of the last couple of years, and since I just heard about this, I am so hyped!! I don’t normally like or watch Godzilla movies, but Minus One was an exception, and this will be too.
Violent Night 2
Violent Night was one of my favorite Christmas movies in a long time, and since I heard about this, I’ve been hyped. I saw the first one in theaters and adored it, and the same will go for this. Hopefully I’ll love it just as much. David Harbour is reprising his role as Santa, Kristen Bell is going to be playing Mrs. Claus, and this will take place in a mall?! Sign me up!
Avengers: Doomsday
Come on, we all knew this was coming at some point. So far, this is looking great from all the teasers I’ve seen. We’ve basically said everything about this movie already, so I’ll just say I hope this is a return to form and that this isn’t just jingling keys in our faces. Fingers crossed!
Dune: Part Three
Last but certainly not least, Dune: Part Three. I really enjoyed the first Dune, the second one was a masterpiece of cinema, and amazingly made. I’m sure this will be no exception. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and many others are reprising their roles, and I’m so happy about it. So hyped for this!
