Hey guys! Welcome back. Today, I’ll be reviewing one of my most anticipated movies of the year, Marty Supreme. Let’s go!
The movie follows Marty Mauser (Timothée Chalamet). It takes place in 1950s New York, and Marty has an ambitious dream no one respects: table tennis. Throughout the film, he believes he can be the best table tennis player of all time. Marty goes through intense struggle throughout the entire movie in pursuit of—and destined for—greatness. This has been my most anticipated movie of the holiday season, and I have to admit, it didn’t live up to the hype… it EXCEEDED THE HYPE!!!

This is my overall second favorite movie of 2025. This is one of the most unique film experiences I’ve ever had in my life. Every single detail, big and small, was masterfully crafted, and it’d be hard to fully describe this film. It keeps you entertained and anxious from start to finish, moves energetically and relentlessly fast, and the 150 minute screen time goes faster than a speeding bullet.
The story is incredibly powerful and deeply meaningful, the character development is exceptional, and some iconic moments will certainly go down in cinema history. Marty’s character is so evil and full of arrogance that audiences are compelled to hate the film solely because of Chalamet’s flawless execution of such an unlikeable character. What really elevates this film is the commitment to his character, and the fact that he’s not hollow or a gimmick—he’s messy, driven, and magnetic. He’s the kind of protagonist you can’t look away from, no matter how hard you disagree with him. The performances are fully locked in, and the film balances humor and intensity; despite not being effortless, it feels that way.
This film is electric in terms of style. Everything has personality, from the editing to the pacing to the direction, oozing swagger without self-indulgence. It’s bold but very precise and chaotically controlled. The balance is difficult, but it nails it. This film has something to say about ambition, ego, and wanting more, and it trusts the audience to keep up.
It’s smart, intelligent, entertaining, and insanely rewatchable. Overall, Marty Supreme is absolutely fantastic, and Timothée better win the Oscar for this movie.
I’m gonna give Marty Supreme an A+.
