Happy holidays, Patriot Nation! It’s me, AJ Delgado once again, and today I will be showing you all the movies coming out this Christmas season! Let’s get into it, shall we?
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2:
Despite not getting good reception, the FNAF movie was a huge success, so it was only inevitable that it would get a sequel. This movie is expected to expand on the FNAF lore, although we all hope it’s a nod to the FNAF 2 game via some kind of prequel subplot. The whole cast of the first movie will reprise their roles, with new additions like Skeet Ulrich and McKenna Grace. Matthew Lillard seems to believe this is scarier and more amped up than the first movie, so I will be seeing it and crossing my fingers it’s good.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery:
This is the third installment in the Knives Out franchise with new additions to the cast including: Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, and more. Daniel Craig will be coming back as Benoit Blanc, with all the other new cast members contributing to what is being called “the holy grail of murders.” I can’t wait!

Ella McCay:
This is a new James L. Brooks movie starring Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Ayo Edebiri, and more. The movie follows an idealistic young lady juggling her family and her occupation. James L. Brooks delivers a comedy-drama about the people in life that matter to you and how you survive them. Looks very sweet!

Avatar: Fire and Ash:
It’s been three years since the success of Avatar: The Way of Water, and it’s now time to continue the saga with Fire and Ash. This third installment plans to continue exploring and building the world of Pandora, and through more gray characters. Jake and his people now discover the people of Ash, basically the new Na’vi tribe. I’m a huge fan of the first two movies, so I do have hope for this and am excited to see the next installment in the Avatar saga.

The Housemaid:
Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney star in this new thriller based on the bestselling novel of the same name, The Housemaid. I myself have never read the book or know much about it, but the trailer makes me curious. Plus, the cast is excellent, and seeing both actresses spar in a nut house like this seems intriguing to me. Also, Paul Feig could land another Simple Favor with this one.

Is This Thing On?:
Bradley Cooper’s newest crisis dramedy seems to be his most personal film to date as a director. The film stars Will Arnett and Laura Dern and is based around facing midlife challenges, potential divorces, and a number of other blues, which cause Arnett’s character to try stand-up. This could be a tough sell during the holiday season, but I have a feeling it will linger in the new year. This seems to have Oscar buzz potential, and I think it looks like a good movie. So I’ll be watching!

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants:
The new installment in the SpongeBob movies, where this time, SpongeBob and Patrick journey out to the ocean to face the Flying Dutchman. This is the newest 2D-animated installment in the franchise. I like SpongeBob, but I honestly have little interest in watching this movie in theaters. But I hope it’s good!

Anaconda:
This’ll be the goofy film to close out the year. Jack Black and Paul Rudd star in this comedic remake of the 1997 movie Anaconda. This time around, Black and Rudd are making a remake of Anaconda within Anaconda, but there turns out to be a giant anaconda in the area they film in. I might see it because of those two alone, but I sure do hope it’s fun!

Song Sung Blue:
Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson star in this romantic biography about Neil Diamond interpreters Lightning and Thunder. They experience extreme success but also extreme heartbreak throughout their tale. I don’t like romance, but this actually looks like a good movie, so I might see it. This one also comes out on Christmas.

Marty Supreme:
Saved the best for last. My most anticipated movie for the rest of the year, coming out on Christmas Day: Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. This follows Marty Mauser/Reisman (Timothée Chalamet), a man who gets very little respect for his dream, table tennis. He then becomes a ping pong champion and is destined for greatness. Marty is being portrayed by the one and only Timothée Chalamet, and my favorite rapper also stars in this movie, that being Tyler, The Creator. I absolutely cannot wait for this movie, and I will be there front and center.
