NFL Week 14 was a big week for many teams – including the Seahawks, Steelers, Packers, and even the Giants, who now have the first overall pick. So, with many teams benefitting, others are suffering from a rough Week 14. So, let’s jump into our recap.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions
The Lions and Cowboys played a big game that was a must-win for both teams who have playoff hopes. In the end, Detroit got the best of the Cowboys, 44-30. Jahmyr Gibbs had three rushing touchdowns in the game and led the Lions offense in the big win. Detroit’s victory makes them 8-5, while Dallas falls to 6-6-1.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Atlanta Falcons
In an extremely one-sided game, the Seahawks whooped the Falcons, 37-9. The game was tied 6-6 after the first half, but Seattle outscored Atlanta 31-3 in the second half to win the game. This win brings the Seahawks to 10-3, and the Falcons to 4-9.
Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bills took down the Bengals 39-34 in the snow, edging them out with a 21-point fourth quarter. Josh Allen had four total touchdowns in his big game for the Bills. Buffalo improves to 9-4, while Cincinnati sinks to 4-9.
Tennessee Titans vs. Cleveland Browns
In the battle of the worst AFC Teams, the Titans won, 31-29. Tony Pollard ran for 161 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Tennessee becomes 2-11, but the Browns become 3-10.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Washington Commanders
In a battle of two struggling teams, the Vikings easily took care of the Commanders, 31-0. Minnesota needed this victory just for morale, playing a good game after so many turnover-stricken games in the past. The Vikings became the first team since the 1992 Broncos to record a shutout after being shut out the previous week. Minnesota rises to 5-8, while the Commanders drop to 3-10.
Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets
The Dolphins keep winning and keep themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot with this 34-10 win. Miami was strong on the ground, with two rushing touchdowns. The Dolphins jump to 6-7, and the Jets fall to 3-10.
New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Saints were able to play spoiler against their division rival Bucs by beating them 24-20. New Orleans cashed in on three rushing touchdowns in their big victory. The Saints move to 3-10, while Tampa Bay moves to 7-6.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts
This Colts loss was a double heartbreaker, as they lost to their division rival Jaguars 36-19, and lost their QB Daniel Jones for the rest of the year. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne both had two touchdowns for Jacksonville. The Jaguars rise to 9-4 and take sole possession of first place in the AFC South, but Indianapolis falls to 8-5.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens
In this big divisional matchup, the Steelers secured the victory against the Ravens, 27-22. Baltimore was unable to get the job done in the red zone multiple times, including in the fourth quarter, and that would prove the difference maker in their loss. Ravens TE Isaiah Likely thought he had the go-ahead touchdown reception late in the fourth quarter, but the referees ruled that he did not maintain possession of the football, which turned the drive into a turnover on downs. Pittsburgh pushes to 7-6, and the Ravens dip to 6-7.
Denver Broncos vs. Las Vegas Raiders
The Broncos, like they have all year, never outdo it and simply get the job done. They won 24-17 to extend their win streak to ten games. Denver becomes 11-2 and is tied for the best record in the NFL, while the Raiders freefall to 2-11.
Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers
This was the biggest and most important matchup of the week, as this game would give the Packers control of the NFC North with their 28-21 win. Jordan Love threw three touchdowns, and Keisean Nixon intercepted the ball in the end zone to seal the dub. With this victory, Green Bay rises to 9-3-1, and the Bears become 9-4.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Rams continue to exert their dominance over the NFC, crushing the Cardinals 45-17. Matthew Stafford threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns, once again adding to his MVP-caliber season. Los Angeles brings their record to 10-3, while the Cardinals drop to 3-10.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans
The Chiefs can’t seem to figure it out this year; every close game they are a part of, they lose. This 20-10 loss to the Texans was no exception. The game was tied going into the fourth quarter, but Houston scored ten points to win it. The Texans are looking like a playoff team with their latest win to move to 8-5, while Kansas City falls to 6-7.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Considering how poorly the game went for Jalen Hurts, the final score was not bad. The Eagles QB had five turnovers, including two in one play, and the Chargers would win 22-19 in overtime on Monsters, Inc. Funday Football. Los Angeles climbs to 9-4, but Philadelphia sinks to 8-5.
This football season has been extremely strange, with teams who dominated early now struggling. Other teams, like the Rams and Broncos, simply refuse to take their foot off the gas, as they both look to be the #1 overall seed in their conferences. The NFC is so good that the Lions, who are 8-5, are currently out of the playoffs. The AFC has been free for other teams to dominate now that the Chiefs are weak. But there are still four weeks left, so four weeks for the playoffs to form and four weeks for players to fight for top awards.
Speaking of awards, watch for Cleveland’s Myles Garrett, who needs three more sacks to break the all-time single-season sack record.
Next week features matchups that are sure to be intense like:
Patriots vs. Bills
Packers vs. Broncos
Lions vs. Rams
Colts vs. Seahawks
