Week 10 of the NFL is done, and it was an exciting one – the first week after the Trade Deadline. Some teams continue to rise, like the Broncos and Patriots, while others, like the Packers and Bills, continue to fall. Let’s begin our recap.
Denver Broncos vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Denver continues its stretch of games where it plays to its opponents. In this particular game, all that was needed was some strong defense. The final score was 10-7. The Broncos defense once again proved why they are among the most elite, with an interception and six sacks. This win brings Denver to 8-2, at the top of the NFL, and drops Las Vegas to 2-7.
New York Giants vs. Chicago Bears
The Giants continue to be plagued by the inability to win close games. Their 24-20 loss to Chicago was heartbreaking, considering they led 20-10 with only a few minutes left to play. QB Caleb Williams was strong for the Bears, with 283 total yards and two touchdowns. New York falls to 2-8, and the Bears become 6-3.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Colts got back on track in their win against the Falcons in London. RB Jonathan Taylor continued to add to his MVP Season with 286 total yards and three rushing touchdowns. Indianapolis would go on to win 31-25 in overtime. The Colts move up to 8-2 and Atlanta sinks to 3-6.
Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills
The Dolphins pulled off the biggest upset of the week against Buffalo, beating the Bills for the first time in eight meetings. RB De’Von Achane ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns in Miami’s 30-13 win. This loss doesn’t bode well for the Bills, who dip to 6-3, while the win bumps the Dolphins up to 3-7.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Ravens were 1-5 at one point, clinging to the hope that their former MVP QB, Lamar Jackson, would return. But they have won the last three games, bringing them just one win away from a .500 record. This game was a 27-19 win for Baltimore, seeing them force a fumble and get two interceptions. Both teams are 4-5 after this game.
New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns
The Jets were 0-7 at one point, but have won two straight games. New York’s defense had six sacks, and the special teams made history. For the first time in franchise history, the Jets returned a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown in the same game. They also accomplished it on back-to-back returns. The final score of the game was 27-20. This win brings the Jets to 2-7, and Cleveland is now 2-7 as well.
New England Patriots vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Patriots continue to play winning football, this time beating the Buccaneers 28-23. Rookie RB Treveyon Henderson finally had his breakout game – with 147 rushing yards and two touchdowns. New England improves to 8-2, while the Bucs fall to 6-3.
New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers
The Panthers lost a game they needed to win against the struggling Saints. Rookie QB Tyler Shough had 282 passing yards and two touchdowns in the 17-7 win. This win makes New Orleans 2-8, and Carolina 5-5.
Houston Texans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Texans had a dominant fourth quarter that would win them the game 36-29. The Texans were down 29-10 entering the fourth quarter, but then they scored 26 unanswered points to win the game. Backup QB Davis Mills had 292 passing yards and two touchdowns in Houston’s scorigami win. This victory bumps them up 4-5, and drops Jacksonville to 5-4.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Seahawks played very strong football in the first half, scoring 38 points in the first two quarters. That started with a 43-yard touchdown to WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Seattle defense shone, recovering three fumbles, five sacks, and scoring two touchdowns. Arizona sinks even further to 3-6 amidst a Kyler Murray conflict, while the Seahawks soar to 7-2.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams
In a big matchup between NFC West rivals, the Rams came out on top 42-26. Matthew Stafford threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns, another amazing performance for the Los Angeles Quarterback. The win boosts the Rams to 7-2, and San Francisco dips to 7-4.
Detroit Lions vs. Washington Commanders
The Detroit offense was dominant in their 44-22 victory, nearly ten months after their Divisional loss to Washington the previous season. In particular, RB Jahmyr Gibbs had 172 total yards and three touchdowns. The Lions are now 6-3, and the injury-plagued Commanders dwindle to 3-7.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers won 25-10 to secure their third straight victory. The Steelers offense was unable to get going; meanwhile, Los Angeles got touchdowns from WR Ladd McConkey and RB Kimani Vidal. This victory improves the Chargers to 7-3, and makes Pittsburgh fall to 5-4.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Green Bay Packers
Monday Night Football saw two teams that usually have strong offenses put up a weak offensive showing. The Eagles’ defense won them this game, with a final score of 10-7. Philly recovered two fumbles, got three sacks, and held the Packers to only one score. The Eagles rise to 7-2 after this big win, while Green Bay’s loss makes them 5-3-1.
The NFL Season has been an exciting and somewhat surprising one, with the Patriots, Colts, and Broncos all 8-2 and at the top of the NFL. Nobody would have thought those would be the best teams ten games in. Right behind them are the Eagles, Seahawks, Rams, and Chargers, who are only 7-2 because of a bye.
In other big news, Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll was finally fired this week after the Giants blew the game against the Bears to drop to 2-8. Daboll’s record as head honcho of the G-Men was 20-40-1 in the regular season, and 1-1 in his sole 2022 appearance in the postseason. Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka has been named interim head coach.
Next week kicks off with the Jets and Patriots on Thursday Night Football.
