Hi, it’s me, AJ Delgado, here once again to give you more of the Hollywood rundown! We’ve got a lot of new movies in theaters this week, so it’s a big one! This is your Weekend Ticket!
Predator: Badlands
From Dan Trachtenberg, the director of 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey, Predator: Badlands follows the story of a younger version of Predator who’s also an outcast from his clan. He goes on a hunt and finds an ally on his journey in search of his ultimate adversary. This is the latest entry in the Predator franchise. It is indeed PG-13, so the gore will be watered down, but I’m sure it will be a very dicey PG-13. This movie also stars Elle Fanning alongside Predator’s actor. This movie is perfect for you if you are a fan of the Predator franchise or if you love high-suspense action.

Nuremberg
This is the latest historical drama about the Nuremberg trials, all based on true events. The film centers around a WWII psychiatrist who evaluates the Nazis prior to the trials, with an obsession growing over understanding the side of evil as he forms a bond with Hermann Göring. The cast consists of Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, Leo Woodall, Michael Shannon, and more. This film is directed by James Vanderbilt, was shown at a bunch of film festivals and reportedly shot 17 pages of dialogue in a single day, so I can’t wait to see this myself. This movie is up your alley if you love historical dramas, films like Oppenheimer, or amazing acting.

Christy
Christy tells the story of female boxer Christy Martin, who was the most successful female boxer of the ’90s. She’s portrayed by Sydney Sweeney in this film. TIFF did indeed screen test this film, and it seems to be generally well-received. This movie is great for you if you love biopics, boxing, or good storytelling.

Sarah’s Oil
Sarah’s Oil tells the remarkable true story of Sarah Rector, an African American girl born in Oklahoma Indian Territory in the 1900s. She believes there’s oil beneath the barren land she was allotted, and her faith will be proven right. This film stars Zachary Levi and Naya Desir Johnson as Sarah. It’s inspired by a true story and the courage of a little girl who changed a nation. This movie is for you if you want something to see with the whole family this weekend, or want to hear a story of faith and fortune.
