The 2025 World Series was one of the most exciting series in the history of baseball. It was a back-and-forth matchup between two powerhouses – the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. To add to the many storylines was the matchup between countries – one team represented Canada, and the other represented the United States.
In Game 1, the Blue Jays’ offense was top-notch, proving that their offensive force would be a top difference maker in the series. They scored 11 runs, led by home runs from Addison Barger, Daulton Varsho, and Alejandro Kirk. The final score was 11-4.
In Game 2, Yoshinobu Yamamoto once again made his mark on the Playoffs. He threw another complete game, this time striking out eight and allowing just four hits plus one run. Will Smith had three RBI’s for the Dodgers, and they won 5-3. This win tied the series 1-1.
Game 3 was an 18-inning thriller. Alejandro Kirk had 3 RBIs for Toronto, and Shohei Ohtani had 3 RBIs for Los Angeles. From the 8th inning to the 17th inning, nobody scored. Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off home run in the 18th to win the game 6-5, giving the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the series.
In Game 4, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a big two-run homer off of Ohtani, and the Blue Jays’ pitching held the Dodgers to six hits and two runs. The Blue Jays tied up the series at 2 apiece and won the game 6-2.
Game 5 saw the Blue Jays’ pitching once again hold the Dodgers’ offense to little success. The Dodgers had four hits and only one run. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays scored six runs from many players coming in clutch. The Blue Jays won 6-1 to go up 3-2 and move within one game of winning the World Series.
Game 6 saw Yoshinobu Yamamoto once again carry the Dodgers to a victory on the pitching end. He threw six innings, only allowing one run. The Dodgers got two big hits in the 3rd from Will Smith and Mookie Betts. They won 3-1 to force a Game 7.
The best two words in sports: Game Seven. And this one definitely didn’t disappoint. Bo Bichette gave the Blue Jays momentum early with a three-run home run. But the Dodgers began clawing at the lead, gaining a few runs to tie the game. In the 9th, Miguel Rojas hit a tying home run for the Dodgers to send it into extras. In the 11th, Will Smith hit a solo home run to win the game for the Dodgers. They won their second straight World Series on the midnight of November 2nd.
Toronto came extremely close many times in the series, unable to close the door. Expect both teams to be back next year. Yoshinobu Yamamoto won the World Series MVP for his dominant performances in the series. Watch out for the Dodgers to three-peat next year – the last team to do that? The 1998-2000 New York Yankees.
