This year’s homecoming was, well, memorable. Although the game itself wasn’t the closest, (Jackson Memorial defeated the Patriots 35-14), the student atmosphere and tailgate were incredible to be a part of.

Before we get into the homecoming festivities, note that our loss wasn’t all bad. Running back Chase Enlow rushed for 19 yards on 10 attempts with a score, and added a receiving touchdown on 4 receptions and 32 yards. Noah Cancela added 31 yards on 2 receptions. Additionally, congratulations to Jayden Holmes-Cotter, Sebastian Andujar, Chase Enlow, and Cody Wohlrab for being selected players of the game by MaxPreps.com.

Even though we lost, the student section was alive. This year was truly the first “normal” homecoming we have seen since the pandemic, and it certainly lived up to the hype. Not only did we get to unleash our inner five-year-old on the 22 ft tall inflatable side, but we participated in games and festivities, got free food, and enjoyed time with friends.

Up until halftime, the game was closely-knit, with Jackson leading 14-7. However, in the second half, we allowed the game to get away from us, letting up three consecutive touchdowns, up until rising star RB Chase Enlow scored again, making the final score 35-14. Although we did not come up victorious, the Patriots still secured their spot in the playoffs, a tremendous reward for a hard-fought season so far.

While the loss stings, it did not define what was otherwise a terrific homecoming. The activities, food, and atmosphere at the game were awesome, and the Patriots will be looking to rebound against Lenape to increase their record to 6-4 and advance in the playoffs.
