“Take a Bow” – Madonna

I’m sure you’re probably surprised to see Madonna in this article, due to her being drastically different from the singers that I typically write about. But, to spice things up a bit, I thought I’d add one of her classics. Enjoy! “Take a Bow” was released on Madonna’s sixth studio album, entitled “Bedtime Stories”. With the album being released in the 90’s, the song has a typical 90’s pop flair to it. Albeit it having this flair, it is one of Madonna’s slower songs, since the lyrics tell the story of saying goodbye to a lover. You should listen to this song if you like pop music, or 90’s tunes.

“Cardiac Arrest” – Bad Suns

“Cardiac Arrest” helped Bad Suns gain popularity back in 2014. Since then, the band has garnered a good amount of fame and attention. The lyrics of the song use cardiac arrest as a metaphor for being deeply in love with someone, along with fun pop-rock instrumentals. You should listen to this song if you like pop-rock music, or songs about love.

“Everytime” – Boy Pablo

This sweet lo-fi jam by Boy Pablo was one of the band’s first hits. With the music video earning more than 16 million views, “Everytime” helped to develop the band’s signature sound. The song tells the story of a one-sided romance. This can be seen with the lyrics “As you can see she hasn’t met him yet, she already fell in love I bet”. You should listen to this song if you like heartfelt lyrics, or lo-fi music.

“Sweet Poison” – Naked Eyes

The band Naked Eyes rose to fame in the 1980s with their hit, “Always Something There to Remind Me”. Their song “Sweet Poison” has a distinct 80s sound to it, with a heavy synthesized beat and heavy autotuned vocals. The song, about the perils and triumphs of love, will definitely put you in a good mood due to its upbeat tone. You should listen to this song if you like 80s music, or upbeat songs.

“Lonely” – RUSSO

RUSSO released “Lonely” on their debut EP back in July 2018. The upbeat pop-punk song helped the up and coming band make a name for themself, with a good amount of critics supporting the EP. Lead singer of the band, Cailin Russo, is the daughter of Scott Russo. Scott Russo is the lead singer of the 90s band “Unwritten Law”, so this gave Cailin and her band a high standard when writing their songs. But, Lonely certainly lived up to that standard with their fun rock take on pop music. You should listen to this song if you like pop-punk music, or strong female vocalists.
