Tasty Tuesdays with Gab: Peppermint Bark

Another great holiday dessert that I always enjoy making is peppermint bark. I made peppermint bark this past weekend for my grammy’s church bake sale; it was a huge hit! This recipe is even simpler than the recipe for the chocolate truffles.

I started by lining a 9×12 pan with parchment paper and setting it aside. Then, I melted the dark chocolate. I prefer to use Ghiradelli chocolate because it tastes the best to me. I got mine from Wegmans because there was a sale. After the dark chocolate is melted, I poured it into the lined pan and used a rubber spatula to make it an even layer. I then put the pan in the fridge to that the chocolate could harden. While the dark chocolate hardened I put some candy canes in a bag and crushed them with a hammer. Once I was done I took the chocolate out of the fridge and melted the white chocolate. I quickly poured the white chocolate onto the dark chocolate and smoothed it, then I sprinkled on the crushed candy cane pieces. After that, I put the peppermint bark back in the fridge to harden.

Lastly, I broke up the bark with my hands. You can also cut the bark with a knife but I prefer how it looks when it’s broken.

RECIPE:

12 oz dark chocolate

12 oz white chocolate

About 5 crushed up candy canes
