“Boomerang” – Miniature Tigers

It’s been a while since I’ve written about a Miniature Tigers song. I couldn’t deprive you all of my favorite band for too long, so they’re back! In this upbeat indie-pop tune, lead singer Charlie Brand laments of his of obsession with someone. He sings lyrics such as, “I pretend to adore you/Hanging on your every line/’Til I get my poison in your mind”. The melody consists of a repeating guitar riff and a fun synthesized sound. The song also has a catchy chorus which is sure to be stuck in your head all day. You should listen to this tune if you like upbeat music, or indie-pop music.

“Die Happy” – DREAMERS

Die Happy is a fun pop-rock tune by the upcoming small band “DREAMERS”. The song is very upbeat, and it makes you want to get up and dance. The lyrics, albeit simple, talk about love. The lead singer sings “I felt like I could die/Happy for a moment/Happy ’cause you stole my spare time”. This tune is sure to put you in a good mood with its fun nature and loveable lyrics. You should listen to this song if you like upbeat music, or music that is easy to dance to.

“Blue Lips” – Her’s

Okay, okay. I know I featured the band “Her’s” last week, and I even wrote them a tribute. But, in the past week I have become obsessed with this catchy tune. So, to me, that warrants them to be featured on this list twice in a row! In this song, the band sings of lyrics with strong themes of love and death. The band also uses the symbolism of “blue lips”, or death, to relate to a dying love. These themes may immediately make you not want to listen to the tune, but stay with me here! The band uses an upbeat synthesized melody to contradict their seemingly melancholy lyrics. Overall, the tune sounds sweet but has dark undertones. This creates an overall well blended song. You should listen to this song if you like indie-pop, or happy music with darker lyrics.

“So Bad to Me” – Sunshine Brothers Inc.

So Bad to Me is a high energy indie-rock song mall rock band “Sunshine Brothers Inc.” The tune has amazing guitar and drum instrumentals. Additionally, the lead singer has a unique, almost husky voice which gives the song its own signature sound. The song, as all songs tend to be, is about love. The tune consists of lyrics such as, “You don’t like that part/Skip ahead, restart/Let it fall apart for all I care/I don’t think so much/About all that stuff”. You should listen to this track if you like indie-rock music, or songs with strong male vocalists.
