“The Sky Under The Sea” by Pierce The Veil

This great track automatically starts quite fast and leads up to the lyrics in a short period of time. This song is one hundred percent my favorite song off of the album “Selfish Machines.” Now, let’s get into the meaning of the song while we’re on the topic of the album name. This song is basically admitting that you’re the “selfish machine.” Which basically means every human is selfish and that’s not even an opinion, it’s a proven fact. This song explains how someone loves to take control and do whatever you want without remorse. The “selfish machine” is the ambitious and daring side to all of us, the side that few people enjoy turning to. Essentially, it’s your “reckless” side. I love this song for its faster side to it and awesome lyrics.

“Love On The Brain” by Rihanna

This very powerful song has literally been my favorite song for about a year. I always listen to it and scream the lyrics at the top of my lungs because you could literally be singing about nothing and you still feel the emotion. This song explains how a relationship has fallen apart and she’s doing everything she can to fix it or make it work but the price is too high on the other end, meaning the other person is putting in zero effort to help rebuild. Due to all of the fighting, it has drained her emotionally and all of the memories and dreams about the person is too much to let go of. The title of the song basically says that the desires are all in her head and it looks like it’s going to stay that way since the other person she’s singing about doesn’t have any interest in coming back into her life.

“Kiwi” by Harry Styles

This song is such an fast almost “rock-ish” sounding song. I love this song because the lyrics are so random. I honestly do not think Harry Styles was sober while he wrote this song. This song talks about liking a girl’s wild side. The chorus literally repeats, “i’m having your baby, it’s none of your business.’” This song is super weird but in a great way. It’s something different and it sounds nothing like anything One Direction has ever made – you wouldn’t expect this kind of music from someone who was in a pop boy band.

“Goodbye Baby” by The Walters

This song is one of those songs you listen to late at night while driving. It has such a soft sound to it, it’s perfect. The Walters have a lot of songs like this one, sort of calm and soothing. This song in particular is a great one in my opinion because every piece of it just flows together really well. The lyrics are somewhat sad yet the feeling around the song is the opposite. The lyrics explain reminiscing over a good time in your life with a significant other. Thinking about the other person and fulfilling your entire memories with pieces of them. Once it hits the pre chorus, it sort of explains a fight the couple goes through. Then going into the chorus they talk about leaving the person because they’re not a positive role in their life anymore. The song is really short but it gets the point across very swiftly.

“Slow Hands” by Niall Horan

This is honestly such a great song by Niall. The song has sort of a rowdy and mature sound to it. This song starts off with Niall explaining his lust for a specific person. This then leads up into the chorus where he explains how he’s preplanning leaving the place him and the other person are in so they can have alone time. He explains how their hands are compared to “sweat dripping down our dirty laundry” and I never really understood that line. However, this song is an easy and catchy one to listen to.
