“HeavyDirtySoul” by Twenty One Pilots
Throughout this song, Tyler raps about how he wants to reach out to people who are just like him. He explains how he does not want to rap like other rappers singing explicit songs, he just wants people to understand him and his confusing thoughts that stir around in his mind. He repeats the phrase, “can you save my heavy dirty soul?” because he is asking if there is anyone out there like him that can help or relate to him. If they can, do they have a solution? This is a great song to listen to no matter what your mood is because you can pull every emotion you’re feeling towards this song and use it just by listening to this.

“Rock Bottom” by Hailee Steinfeld
This catchy and upbeat tune is mainly about how a roller coaster is just like a relationship. When you’re in a relationship and you love that person so much, there’s obviously going to be ups and downs. No matter how much you love the person you’re with, they will sometimes drive you insane and that’s just the beauty of a relationship.

“Mr. Brightside” by The Killers
I have liked this song for awhile (thanks to my friend Alexa for the recommendation) but this song has stood out to me throughout the years. This cheerful sounding tune is not so cheerful when it comes to the lyrics. This song wraps around the idea of paranoia and trust issues while in a relationship. Throughout the song, the composer of the band states, “I just can’t look it’s killing me and taking control jealousy, turning saints into the sea.” This shows that the person is so nervous that his partner is cheating on him it’s literally ruining him.

“Sambuka” by Pierce The Veil
The title of this song got it’s name because the lead singer, Vic Fuentes, drank a foreign alcohol called “Sambuka” (the correct spelling is “Sambuca” but he did not know that and he just went with the closest option on how to spell it) from the U.K. that he’s never heard of. The meaning of the song has to somewhat do with the title minus the alcoholic beverage. Vic would always meet foreign girls on the road from touring, and then date them and build up a nice relationship to only have it crumbling down, it would never work out because of the distance from traveling. This caused a lot of stress on him so he wrote this song about it.

“Not Afraid Anymore” by Halsey
This very empowering song connects to Halsey becoming okay with her sexuality toward the public eye. The song was made for the new movie “50 Shades Darker” and it was supposed to refer to the main character of the movie but Halsey took it to another level and related the song to her own self which I think is just so amazing.
