Erica Singh, Staff Writer

Hi! I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself before getting started. My name is Erica Singh. I’m a junior and I love music. I love listening to it, I love writing about it. I just like connecting with the vibes they give me. Every Friday, I am going to give you a playlist of all of my favorite songs I listen to, along with a description of them so you can learn about them. I hope this can get you into different genres of music or to start liking a certain band or artist. Here is my playlist, I hope you enjoy!

“Shape Of You” by Ed Sheeran
This new upbeat tune is so catchy and fun. Ed talks about meeting a girl and how he instantly falls in love with everything about her, he loves to watch her dance and move around because he is inlove with the shape of the girl. If you haven’t heard this song yet, I would give it a listen because it is such a great song.

“Tonight” by Tyler Joseph
This brilliantly written song talks about two characters, a young boy and an old man. Tyler explains how the young boy speeds through life extremely fast and doesn’t stop to take a break. While on the other hand, the old man’s time is almost up and he wants time to rewind. He wants to go back to when he was young so he can experience life. Toward the middle of the song, Tyler sings “we must all agree, there’s a point in life when darkness breaks our brittle hopes and dreams. And i’d say, It must be tonight.” Tyler explains this line because as the old man was getting older, there was a time when he wanted to stop time and go back to when he was younger. Tyler then says, “stay with me” because the old man can’t turn back time and it turns out that his time is up.

“Bedless” by Pierce The Veil
The lead singer, Vic Fuentes, explains how this song was about a relationship with someone and the relationship really wasn’t going anywhere but no one wanted to admit it because they were having a good run. After they broke up, they remained friends before and after the relationship and Vic wanted to basically apologize to her for ending things but is saying he had a really good time throughout the relationship and he didn’t want to end things on a bad note.

“Like I Would” by Zayn
This song is one of those songs that you listen to once and it gets stuck in your head for weeks so you have to keep listening to it until you get sick of it.. Unless that’s just me. Zayn explains throughout this song that the girl he use to be with, now is talking to someone else. He talks about how he wants her back and that her new partner will never find anyone better than him because he was the best she’s ever had.

“Car Radio” by Twenty One Pilots
This song is titled a “basic” song only because it’s often listened to but I personally still enjoy it so much. This deep and slower tune is the lead singer, Tyler Joseph, explains his story of being in college and having his car radio stolen out of his car. This made car drives silent which made him think about everything, his mind took over which can be good but can also lead to bad things. If you need a song to just think to, this one’s definitely the one.
