November 24, 2015 is a day that will forever be remembered in the minds and hearts of the Class of 2016. The weeks of preparation and stress have paid off: The seniors have taken the title yet again!

Although the majority of the hype was for the night of, the excitement began long before. Township’s incredible school spirit played a major role in the success of BotC. Over seven thousand dollars were raised due to high attendance. On the day of, the students came to school decked out in the color designated for their grade, displaying their enthusiasm for the night to come. FTHS students were not the only anxious ones though; Alumni and current teachers alike filled the bleachers. During every event, each grade roared and chanted, cheering the teams on.

Although the seniors prevailed, all of the grades made great efforts in their attempts to win the games. The results are as follows:

  • Attendance at the Homecoming Dance: Seniors  untitled2
  • Find the Patriot: Seniors
  • Costume Contest: Seniors
  • Cart Race: Seniors
  • Balloon Pop Contest: Juniors
  • Chicken in the Henhouse: Juniors
  • Junkyard Relay: Seniors
  • Thinking Challenge: Seniors
  • Egg Toss: Sophomores

With a total of seven victories, the Class of 2016 team made their peers proud. Senior Samantha Rommeney, a member of the BotC team, explains why the seniors were so successful: ” I owe my victory and success to every one of my team members. This year was hands down the closest team we’ve ever had. We got along the entire time and really became a family. Every practice, sleepover, and hangout made me realize how lucky I was to have each and every one of them as friends. Although at times it was stressful and felt like nothing could get done, we always would pull through and turn every negative thought I had into positive. Bottom line is I love them all to death. They mean the world to me and because of all of them, the class of 2016 will go down in history.” Clearly, BotC was a very memorable night for all.

Although incredibly fun and exciting, the final BotC that the Class of 2016 will ever participate in again is just a memory now. Senior Caitlin Checkett explains what this truly felt like during the event: “It was a really bittersweet feeling going to BotC this year, knowing that I’ll never experience it again. This year was definitely the best one though because our whole grade was so unified and hyped to finally win! Being in the crowd rooting for our team is such an exciting time to be in high school and it’s a memory that I’ll always look back on.”

Again, although there were many close calls among each different event, it was the Class of 2016 that truly “Stole the Show.” Congratulations seniors and good luck to the underclassmen in all of the Botc’s to come!
