Ladies and gentlemen, the day of reckoning is here! After watching the long awaited season 7 premiere of the Walking Dead, what viewers saw couldn’t have predicted.
After singing eenie meenie miny moe, Negan and his bat, Lucille, selected Abraham Ford! “You can breathe, you can blink, you can cry, hell you’re all are going to be doing that!” Negan’s words to the group and to the viewers at home. Surprisingly, viewers weren’t phased with Abraham killed off. After reading the comic book months before the season premiere, many faithful watchers came across Abraham shot by a crossbow in the head by a savior named Dwight. The T.V. show came around, and Abraham was lucky enough to not die during that particular moment and the directors replaced him with a character named Denise. Right then and there most people knew that Abraham wasn’t going to last long in the show, and he indeed only lasted two more episodes. Abraham stated his final words to Negan as blood rolled down his face.
Negan spoke of how awesome it felt for him to beat someone to death and how cool it was for his bat to have so much blood on it. Instead of showing fear, a wounded Daryll Dixon stood up to Negan and punched him in the mouth showing respect and loyalty to his fallen brother. Negan warned the group about getting out of line with him, so many viewers were perplexed as to why Daryll was acting out. The Saviors broke off this fight and one of his men tried to persuade Negan to erase him because Dwight and Daryll have a history, but he said no. As chills rolled through viewers spine, Negan wasn’t pleased to see someone else stand up to him. He gave them all one warning already, now it was time for them all to pay once more. With no mercy, Negan killed Glenn Rhee!
Glenn’s death hit watchers at home hard! Nothing was worse than seeing a beloved character by many beaten to death. Honestly, no one saw this one coming because in the season trailer, we saw a far away image of where Negan was standing during the kill. The first to die was obviously Abraham, but he was standing somewhere else for another beating. Many fans thought it was another perspective of the Negan killing the first victim, but this couldn’t be too easy. It had to be another.
Another reason why this death was so brutal is because when Glenn got the first swing, an avalanche of blood poured on his face! The directors remained true to the comics with Glenn beaten with a ton of blood flowing and his eye popping out of its socket! His final words were to his wife, “Maggie, I’ll find you.” meaning that one day they’ll find each other again, but for now has to look over her. Negan tried to apologize to the group for such a hard hit to Glenn since he realized a lot of people cared about him, but then he said “No exceptions!” and continued to beat Glenn aggressively to death.
If this was enough of a grand entrance, nope! Negan took Rick on a ride just to show him, he’s the next big thing. Negan made Rick get his axe from a route 9 of zombies, and survived. After doing so, Negan thought Rick would be afraid of him by now. Nope, he had the same not so scared look on his face. His next test was to cut off his son, Carl’s left arm off at Negan’s command. Just keep in mind he took two legendary characters lives away, and Rick is being forced to cut his own son’s arm off! Negan is one messed up character. Midway through the drama, Negan stopped Rick when he saw the face he was looking for-the face of fear!
Overall, this was the best season premiere in a long time. With the six month wait full of research, teasers, and predictions, this truly answered all of the questions the community was asking. Negan is the next big thing and not to be played with! Viewers saw what he can do and questioned who will be next? Glenn and Abraham will be dearly missed in the show, but sure everyone in the community will miss Glenn more. I hope the Patriots had one heck of a season premiere. Have a head-bashing free day, but for now, “Ta-Ta!”
