The Octagon Club is always finding new things to do.

On March 18th, volunteers helped with FTHS’s Mother’s Day/ Spring Shop-a-thon. The event had about 30 vendors that were selling various items including, jewelry, spa treatments, clothing, BBQ sauce, body wraps, tastefully simple products and chocolate truffles. The volunteers helped to set up the event, greet the parents, show the shoppers around, and  clean up. The volunteers even got a few free samples from the truffle table. Overall the Octagon volunteers did a great job and had a lot of fun at the event!

Additionally, Octagon members volunteered at Girl Up’s annual Denim Day Alissa Persad and Sonika Vatsaon Sunday, March 21st. Denim Day is a sexual violence prevention and education campaign. After decorating their jeans with motivational quotes and slogans, girls from all over New Jersey congregated at Monmouth Mall for a fashion show. Miss New Jersey International and Miss New Jersey Teen International also attended the event and showed the girls how to walk the runway. Then the girls got their chance to feel like stars on the runway as they showed off their creative and inspirational jeans, helping to spread awareness. The girls were also given a demonstration on various self-defense methods. Denium Day was a huge success and all the Octagon members were grateful to have been a part of it.

Everyone is buzzing about Octagon’s Game Night! This year Octagon Club decided to organize a Game Night at FTHS as a fundraiser. Game Night will be held on Thursday April 2nd at FTHS from 4pm to 6pm. Every team that participates in Game Sonika Vatsa, Lydia Zheng, Alissa Persad, Kayleigh Dipasquale, and Shaye DipasqualeNight will be playing for a different non-profit organization of their choice. The games that the Octagon board has decided on so far are Taboo, Catch Phrase, ping pong, and junk yard relay.
