As we all enjoyed the three day weekend, not many stopped and thought about why we were actually on break. No one stopped to think about the great movement that happened in order to make how we live our lives today possible. Some people have friends who are African American and some don’t, but think about the fact that if Martain Luther King, and many others, didn’t do what they did then we would not be able to have these friends or classmates.

Now that we are back in school, we should all think about how far we have come since the African American race was not allowed the same civil liberties we all are today. We should also think about how poorly they were treated during that time and how we would never want to repeat that so think about what you say and the words you use before you say them, because you never know who it will offend.

Cool? Cool. Stay classy guys and remember to remember what that day was really about.
