The New Presidential Fitness Program

For most students, “phys ed” is just a lame attempt to get us active and another period that not many people take interest in.

I know that for me, changing into and out of clothes in the locker room is actually more of a hassle and activity than gym itself.

But with the new Presidential Fitness test, students are pushing themselves harder than I’ve ever seen before in gym to get the A and exceed the test’s high expectations.

Almost like Freshmen Fitness, Presidential Fitness occurs for the first week of your gym semester and consists of a series of activities that are designed to test your physical ability.

The test kicks off with partner warm ups to assess your agility and prepare you for the final test, which is one lap around the track in a given amount of time.

Although it’s not difficult at all or even exhausting, students are wondering if this test is necessary and if it  should be part of the physical education curriculum. While some say it is needed to ensure that kids are staying active, others are saying it just a simple waste of time and an inaccurate measure of one’s physical ability.
