Mrs. Nolan by Brett Morice

My junior year I decided to take forensics and marine biology and I never knew how beneficial that decision would be. They were both half-year courses and Mrs. Nolan was my teacher for both so I was lucky to have her for the whole year. The small class consisted of mostly seniors which made me unsure how much we would actually learn in class however I can say I learned at least one thing everyday in that class. I think what made the class so interesting was how I could tell how much Mrs. Nolan enjoyed teaching the courses. She wouldn’t just give us notes and homework, she would set up group project. The first half of the year was forensics and for one of the first projects she turned the classroom into a crime scene and for that day we all worked together to solve the crime. I loved taking the class because I never knew what I would find when I walked into the classroom and it helps that I found it all very interesting. For the second half of the year I had marine biology which I enjoyed even more than forensics. I originally had an interest in marine biology however I didn’t know a whole lot about it. Mrs. Nolan was able to teach the class so well that while she was getting all of information across, she made me excited to go to class everyday and learn about it. After taking her class I was so inspired and interested in the course I decided that it was exactly what I wanted to do in college, so next year I will be taking marine biology at Stockton University. Mrs. Nolan did much more than just go through the lesson plan and tell us what we needed to know to pass the class. She had such a passion for what she was teaching that she inspired me to take what I learned to another level and possibly a career someday. Taking those two courses my junior year was possibly the best academic decision I had made throughout my entire high school career.
