On January 29th, pop singer, Charlie Puth released his debut album Nine Track Mind. The New Jersey singer had kicked started his career when he released the popular song “See You Again” featuring Wiz Khalifa which was recorded for the soundtrack for the Fast and Furious 7 movie.

Charlie Puth had started off making videos on YouTube, and got discovered by Ellen DeGenerous in 2011. He released an album titled Ego in 2013, but it was not a popular release, and it has been taken down from iTunes.

His first EP was released in early 2015 and includes the songs “Some Type of Love,” “I Won’t Tell a Soul,” “Marvin Gaye” and “Suffer.”

His first single off of Nine Track Mind was dropped on August 20, 2015 and it’s called “One Call Away.” Charlie’s old fans from his YouTuber days and even his newest fans were ecstatic to find out about this release as well as his announcement for his album.

The album also includes the single “Marvin Gaye” which features pop singer, Meghan Trainor. This song was also on his EP and the single went viral in late 2015. The album also includes his songs “Suffer” and “Some Type of Love” from his EP.

Puth collaborated with a couple of artists on his album such as Selena Gomez and Shy Carter.  The song he wrote with Gomez is called “We Don’t Talk Anymore” and it’s about having a broken relationship with someone that you used to be close with. The song “As You Are” which features rapper, Shy Carter, is about falling in love for someone for who they are and not wanting them to change.

Other songs on this album include upbeat songs such as “Dangerously” which Charlie Puth stated on twitter that “[it] was the hardest song[s] to sing in the studio.” Another catchy song is called “My Gospel” and it is about trying his best to get a girl’s attention.

There are three slower songs on the album as well. “Losing My Mind” is about someone going insane over being in love with a girl. “Left Right Left” is about a boyfriend being a little demanding over his girlfriend and giving her some directions. The last song on the album is called “Up All Night” and it’s about a guy who can’t sleep after he had heard some awful things that his girlfriend told him the night before.

Junior Leah Emmerich states, “The song ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ is such a catchy song and it is my favorite off of the album.”
