It’s the holiday season so let’s get into the holiday spirit, shall we? The temperature has dropped and the sky gets darker earlier so that’s a sign for movies.  Check out some of our absolute favorite holiday classics.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a legendary movie starring the legendary Jim Carrey  as the Grinch. It’s about a green, hairy  “Who” who hates Christmas with a passion. While he hates in his home in his cave on a mountain, he watches the Whos down in Whoville celebrate and countdown the hours until Christmas. He decides to come up with a brilliant, evil plan: to steal Christmas. This is a funny family movie that is highly recommended for Christmas.

Elf, starring the hilarious Will Ferrell, is about a human who lives the in the North Pole with his elf friends and Santa. He’s told one day that he is human and decides to go on an adventure to New York city to find and meet his biological father. This funny family movie is highly recommended for all ages.

Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer isn’t just a song but also a movie. Little Rudolph is excluded from the other reindeer because his gleaming red nose makes him different from the others. He goes on an adventure with some friends to save some misfit toys and comes back on Christmas Eve. Santa’s sleigh wasn’t able to glide in the air but little Rudolph saves the day leading the other reindeer through the sky.

Home Alone 2 is  a story of a big family going on a vacation to Florida for Christmas. As the family rushes through the airport, the main character, Kevin, drops something and loses sight of his family. He tries to find them but ends up following a man with the same coat as his father and eventually getting on the plane to New York City instead of Florida. He manages to survive through New York City, fooling adults and two criminals that try to kidnap him. His family realizes he is missing and finds out he’s in New York and gets a flight to spend Christmas there instead.

The Polar Express is a dream come true for the kids that get to take “the polar express” to the North Pole. A young boy boards a train at night makes a few friends along the way. The adventure on the train is merry and full of excitement, but the mood soars once they reach the North Pole and explore the magic.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is a depiction of the real meaning of magic. Charlie Brown is seemingly down and without the Christmas spirit, causing Lucy to try and cheer Charlie Brown up by telling him to direct the Christmas play. Within this play, Charlie Brown is responsible for bringing back the typical Christmas tree, but when everyone makes fun of the short and empty tree Charlie Brown brings back, they are forced to look at the real reason why Christmas is important.

Jack Frost is about a father and son’s relationship that becomes strengthened after the father unfortunately passes away. On a snowy night, Jack is driving his truck through the hills when a faulty windshield wiper blocks his view and ultimately causes him to crash. Charlie, his son, is devastated and cannot cope with his father’s death and decides to make time to build a snowman on his front lawn. Afterwards, he plays the “magical” harmonica that his father gave to him, which in turn gives the snowman his father’s life. The movie goes on to allow viewers to see Charlie and his father, Jack Frost, have a second chance at life together.

The Year Without a Santa Claus is an animated television special where Santa Claus wakes up one day with a cold and is told he must change up his annual routine. This year, instead of Santa delivering gifts, the task is now left up to two elves, Jingle and Jangle. While visiting houses, the elves get lost in Southtown, where their reindeer Vixen is detained at the dog pound after being disguised after receiving a citation from a policeman. Santa makes his way to Southtown to rescue Vixen, realizing that people still believe in him and the spirit of Christmas.

The Santa Clause is about a man who, unbeknownst to him, becomes Santa Claus. Every day he sees more and more attributes that are turning him from Scott into Santa. His friends and family begin to think he is crazy, and he spends his days either wondering if he is crazy as well or trying to prove to the skeptics that he is in fact Santa Claus.

Fred Claus is about a not-so-into-the-holidays man named Fred Claus who has to save Christmas because his brother Nick (Santa Claus) is sick and Fred is his only hope. Fred is his only hope because he’s a Claus and he’s the only one that can deliver presents over night to the whole world. This movie is a family comedy that is perfect for watching.
