Tor Miller and the Sunday Scaries
October 12, 2017
The “Sunday scaries” is known as the feelings of negative emotions that follow a weekend full of partying, often times leaving an individual feeling hopeless and an existential crisis.
Tor Miller, a New Jersey based piano singer-songwriter, came up with a brilliant idea to cure those Sunday blues. He, along with the east coast’s up-and coming indie, pop, and soul artists, put together a musical performance series, titled “Sunday Scaries” after the infamous Sunday phenomenon. The goal of the performances is to help “cure” these blues and lift spirits by performing every first Sunday of every month starting on October 1st up until January. The performances take place at Asbury Park Music Foundation in Asbury Park, New Jersey, full of studios and music lessons, and best of all, a venue for the Sunday Scaries shows. The cozy venue provides an intimate feel to appreciate the sounds of artists such as Joe Walker and Ade, who opened up the October show with acoustic performances of their own songs before Tor swept away the audience with full band performances of songs from his new album.

As a huge fan of Tor’s music, I felt extremely lucky to attend the first show alongside my sister and have the opportunity to talk to him when I first walked into the venue. The experience was superb, not only because the artists were beyond talented, but also because the event had no motive other than to spread the beauty of music.
If you find yourself hit with a case of the Sunday scaries, and desperately want to cure them, November 5th is your lucky day. Follow @tormillermusic and @cure4sundayscaries on Instagram to stay up to date with the event and find out more about New Jersey’s hidden gem.
