Erica’s Friday Playlist: 12/16/16
December 16, 2016
Hi! I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself before getting started. My name is Erica Singh. I’m a junior and I love music. I love listening to it, I love writing about it. I just like connecting with the vibes they give me. Every Friday, I am going to give you a playlist of all of my favorite songs I listen to, along with a description of them so you can learn about them. I hope this can get you into different genres of music or to start liking a certain band or artist. Here is my playlist, I hope you enjoy!
“Just Hold On” by Steve Aoki and Louis Tomlinson
This song is so upbeat and fun but the lyrics is where it hits you hard. The song is about Louis Tomlinson singing to his mother telling her to “just hold on” as she was diagnosed with a harsh form of cancer earlier this year.

“Guns For Hands” By Twenty One Pilots
This song has got to be one of the most meaningful songs Twenty One Pilots has made. This song is the lead singer, Tyler Joseph, sending out a message to those fans who self harm or get angry or sad easily. Tyler is telling those fans to take their anger out on HIM and not themselves. This song shows how selfless and simply virtuous he is.

“Roses” by Shawn Mendes
This slow and heartbreaking song talks about Shawn missing someone he use to date, he sees the person happy as ever with someone else and he still has not moved on from them. Throughout the song he repeats, “I got you this rose, and I need to know, will you die or let it grow?” Basically asking if the person is going to accept him back or forget about him.

“All I Want” by Kodaline
This song every person that has gone through a bad break-up can relate to this song. This song isn’t just a simple post break-up song, it’s a song that questioned the entire relationship. The most famous quote in the song states, “but if you loved me, why’d you leave me?” This song is just brilliantly put together. There are two parts to the music video.

“iRobot” by Jon Bellion
This song has a lot of meaning behind it. The song explains how Jon once knew what love was but he’s been broken so many times he now is like a robot; emotionless. The song explains how someone can truly change by the way they’re treated. If someone is extremely kind and everybody walks all over them, they will eventually get tired of it and change how they feel about certain things. Which is what this track talks about, this song is truly one of Jon’s greatest songs so far!
