Talking Dead with Pedro (7.6)
December 4, 2016
Once viewers favorite zombie survivors went on a killing spree at the Saviors satellite station, and temporarily said goodbye to a couple of characters, Heath and Tara, as they went on a two week run for supplies for survival. At the start of the episode, the audience was introduced to two new people, Sydney and Rachel, who demanded to go out and kill some walkers, or people they come across. In this case, they were hunting at the beach and they found Tara who washed up on the shore. Rachel wanted to kill Tara because that’s what this group does, but Sydney stopped her before she did any damage. Rachel was very upset with Sydney for not following orders, but Sydney didn’t care.
Throughout the episode, the show went back and forth with a retrospective of Heath and Tara before separating. Before separating, Heath and Tara talked about going back to Alexandria because Heath thought they scavenged enough for two weeks. Tara wants to scavenge for one more day because she doesn’t believe they have enough and the people of Alexandria are expecting a lot more from them. Heath feels terrible about killing all of those Saviors back at the satellite station because they didn’t do anything to the people of Alexandria and this was the first time he killed a living person. Before Rick entered their lives, the people of Alexandria didn’t know a whole lot and now they know how to fight and properly survive. They stayed one more day to find more to bring back home.
Back in present time, Sydney took care of Tara by giving her a couple of water bottles and fish, and stayed with her so she can recover. As Sydney was leaving, Tara woke up and saw the fish and water bottles left for her, so Tara followed her back to her home at Oceanside! Oceanside was a place built in the jungle by the beach which was full of kids, adult women, homes made from trees, and heavy arsenal. Tara’s cover was blown. Oceanside people hid the young ones, and took guns from the arsenal to hunt and kill Tara! When Tara realized the intent to hunt her, she took off right away cover for because she was helpless. She knocked out someone from Oceanside in self-defense and was stopped by Rachel and the people of Oceanside who aimed a gun at Tara.
The show went back to Heath and Tara for the second time and in this scene, they found a bridge with a mountain of sand with ammunition. When Tara was picking up the leftover ammunition, she accidentally knocked over the mountain of sand, and inside of the sand were walkers! Tara and Heath fought off the walkers, but there were too many of them, so in an attempt to save himself, Heath ditched Tara!
Back in Oceanside, Tara was in a room, handcuffed to an air conditioner and was asked several questions—where she was from and how did she found this place? She said that she fell off the bridge fighting off walkers and washed up onto a beach. That’s when she found Sydney and Oceanside. The leader of the group plus her henchwomen debated what to do with Tara, and settled on dinner time for the moment.
The leader of Oceanside, her henchwomen, Sydney, and Tara sat down for dinner, and offered Tara to stay with them because they didn’t want to kill her and they find this is the only positive solution for all. Tara rejects the offer because she needs to find Heath and get back to Alexandria with the supplies and to her girlfriend. The leader of Oceanside explained to Tara why they would have to shoot her—Oceanside had a run in with the Saviors and they killed all of their men and a couple of kids, which left them incredibly vulnerable. Since then, they had a strict policy about run-ins with unknown people, and that is they Oceanside people kill or shoot them on site! Tara offers for Alexandria and Oceanside to work together, but the leader had a better idea which was to send some of their troops with Tara to the bridge to find her friend to help them get back to Alexandria.
The leader of Oceanside wishes Tara the best of luck on her journey. As they were getting ready to leave, Tara had a one last confrontation with Rachel in which she spat at Tara’s shoes and in response, Tara stuck up her middle finger. As Tara and the troops who were escorting Tara to the bridge they decided to shoot at her because if she wasn’t going to stay at Oceanside, then she might tell her group about Oceanside and get them all killed! Tara wrestled with one of their troops and finds out that there are more Saviors then the ones at the satellite station! Sydney came to Tara’s rescue once more and knocked out the troop that was about to shoot Tara. Sydney warns her about ever coming back to Oceanside because if she did, they’ll all die! Sydney agrees to take Tara to the bridge to help find Heath by sniping any opposing threat as she is considered to be “a one shot!”
The show had one more flashback with Heath and Tara and this time it’s when Tara got cornered at the end of the bridge, and now Heath comes back to save her, but only for him to get trapped in the trunk of a car! They shouted to each other that they are a team and nothing will tear them apart, but that’s when Tara falls off the bridge with the walkers into the ocean!
As Sydney and Tara were fighting off walkers, Tara thought she saw Heath with walkers and right away assumed Heath died and turned into a walker! Luckily enough, it wasn’t Heath who was the walker, but a different person which was a random lady who unluckily died, but closely resembled Heath! As Tara looked back for a moment, she saw Sydney being taken away by the troops. She turned away and headed back to Alexandria. The only clues about Heath’s whereabouts are tire marks and a card that says P.P.P.
Tara recovered from the day’s activities at a nearby sunglasses store, ate raw fish and found a bobble head for her girlfriend Denise, Alexandria’s doctor (last season Denise was killed by the Saviors). Tara was spotted by Eugene who is taking a shift at the guard tower and immediately lets her in. Tara walked in with a pair of sunglasses, and later appeared broken at the news that her girlfriend doctor Denise, one of her best friends Glenn, and Abraham have been killed by the Saviors!
She was greeted later by Rosita in the episode and asked Tara where she went and what did she find? Tara had a decision to make—rat out Oceanside, or keep the secret she made to Sydney. Tara decided to keep Oceanside a secret from everyone at Alexandria.
This episode was a decent one, not the best, but average. Next week, viewers will be visiting the Sanctuary once again to see our lovely Saviors with Daryl, the Kingdom, and seeing what Rick and Aaron scavenged for the Savior’s next return. With only two episodes left until the mid-season finale, watchers hoping the remaining episodes go off and end with a bang! Pedro Vasquez reporting on TWD, and for now, Ta-ta!
