Erica’s Friday Playlist: 11/18/16
November 18, 2016
Hi! I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself before getting started. My name is Erica Singh. I’m a junior and I love music. I love listening to it, I love writing about it. I just like connecting with the vibes they give me. Every Friday, I am going to give you a playlist of all of my favorite songs I listen to, along with a description of them so you can learn about them. I hope this can get you into different genres of music or to start liking a certain band or artist. Here is my playlist, I hope you enjoy!
“Unsteady” by X Ambassadors [wpdevart_youtube]V0lw3qylVfY[/wpdevart_youtube]
This is a very slow and powerful song about two brothers having to watch their parents go through a divorce. The lyrics in this song are so sentimental because it explains how both of the parents of the two boys seem very out of it, they are trying to hold onto this family but they realize they can not. The concept of this song is just so impressive, it really shows the life of the two brothers and the struggles they went through.
“Won’t Go Home Without You” by Maroon 5 [wpdevart_youtube]VlMEGBsw6j8[/wpdevart_youtube]
My friend recommended this one and it’s one of her favorite songs as well as one of mine. This song is about a girl that just ended a relationship with her partner and he is still grasping onto the memories and thoughts of her because he doesn’t want to let go of her and all of the great things they had together. The lead singer of the band, Adam Levine, explains vividly that he wants his ex girlfriend back but she shows no interest in getting back together with him.
“Home” by One Direction [wpdevart_youtube]55pDVsFdoA4[/wpdevart_youtube]
This has got to be the most meaningful song One Direction has ever made. This song talks about how they’re looking for somebody to be their “home” (and not just a place where you live.. Sometimes, it’s not even a place, it’s a person who can make you feel safe) they’ve gone through so many people, but they haven’t found the right one yet so they keep looking and eventually they will find someone who is extremely important to them so that they can title that person as their “home” and I just think this is such a beautiful concept.
“Doubt” by Twenty One Pilots [wpdevart_youtube]MEiVnNNpJLA[/wpdevart_youtube]
This has a very dark and deep meaning to it. The lead singer, Tyler Joseph, repeats the phrase, “don’t forget about me,” which explains how he basically doesn’t want God to forget that he exists and he’s trying his hardest to show that he wants to mean something to God. Tyler may seem different from others, but he doesn’t want God to forget who he is.
“A Match Into Water” by Pierce The Veil [wpdevart_youtube]uQ-H_i1K2n4[/wpdevart_youtube]
This song has a beautiful story behind it. The lead singer of the band, Vic Fuentes, explained how his ex girlfriend had breast cancer and he wrote this song to show how strong she is. She eventually finished chemotherapy and Vic wrote this song to explain how proud he is to see her go through so much pain for an amazing outcome.
