NJ Devils: The Dream Team

With a fresh new lineup, the New Jersey Devils are kicking off the 2014-2015 season with a bang.

One thing to notice is that the team has scored eleven goals within a span of six periods, which is exceptional compared to last year’s performance (when they ranked 27th in the league.) They also won the opening game against the Philadelphia Flyers with a score of 6-4, followed up by a win against the Florida Panthers with a score of 5-1. What is the cause of this unprecedented success?

Some say it is the new powerful offensive lineup that is bolstering the team’s outstanding performance. Nearly EVERY offensive lineman has scored a goal, including the newly-recruited Mike Cammalleri, who scored 3 goals.

It’s more than just the offense that is victorious. The defensemen have also been contributing to the team’s success by racking up a total of nine points. Gelinas, Merrill, and Greene have formed a solid defense and disallowed infiltration of the puck, plugging up any holes formed by the mistakes of the offense.

With another game against Tampa Bay Lighting Tuesday night, the Devils are confident that they will continue the winning streak by defeating one of the toughest teams in The Eastern Conference.
