Homecoming 2016 was one to remember. Although Township did not win the game this year, so many memories were made, one of them being the annual tailgate. The festivities kicked off at 4:30 and lasted until the start of the game at 6:30. There was dancing, food, and many other activities to take part in.

Student Government had a tailgate of their own and offered free food to anyone who came to the tailgate. The menu consisted of burgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies, water, and soda. There was an abundant amount of food and all of it was served by the Student Government officers and advisors.

Another great part of the tailgate was the DJ who made everyone excited and hyped for the game that would follow. Students were dancing the entire time and having a great time. Of course, the STEP Team themselves brought their moves and performed a small routine when Howell’s team arrived, making everyone even more eager for the game.

Other teams and clubs had a tailgate of their own. Cross-country had their own feast of pasta and subs, while dance team had a cute cupcakes and other little treats. FFA had delicious s’mores and many other clubs participated as well. Students Helping Honduras, as usual, took the opportunity to raise money for their friends in Honduras by selling bandanas and bracelets.

The tailgate was a perfect time to take pictures with friends and family, there was even a photo booth that printed out pictures right on the spot. In fact, it was so popular that there was always a long line.

A lot of people took advantage of the warmer than expected weather and just hung out with friends before the game. There was some disc golf, soccer, football, and corn hole all being played beforehand. It was a nice way to end a hard week at school and relax, forgetting about the stresses of the outside world.

All in all, the tailgate foreshadowed the mood that would be apparent throughout the entire football game. There was a great time had by all and nothing could have made it all. The tailgate this year was one for the books.
