Is It The End Of Spongebob?
October 16, 2016
Spongebob Squarepants, arguably one of the most iconic and popular cartoons of all time, is said to be getting cancelled.
Word of this started to spread when popular twitter users started saying that after 17 years of running that Spongebob would be cancelled on October 17. Much backlash has occurred from this with people sharing their disappointment with friends and on social media.
Senior Sammi Singh said, “This is the end of my childhood and it is very TRAGIC for me.”
Similary, Leah Emmerich, a Senior, added “Honestly, truly it’s a tragedy. It is an abomination to take away a show that has contributed so much to our society and culture. Such a shame to see it go. Me a hoy minoy.”
But maybe everything read online shouldn’t be taken so seriously. This rumor, which is believed by many people, is actually a hoax. Snopes, a website known for debunking hoaxes such as these, contacted Nickelodeon who stated that the show “isn’t cancelled.” This same rumor happened before a few years ago in 2014. Which proves people need to be more careful in what they read online.
So everyone’s nightmare of their favorite children’s show ending can be delayed for just a bit longer. You all can now sleep soundly at night.
