Friday the 13th Brings Real-Life Terror Across the Globe

Noah Gomes

There was nothing light-hearted about the events that unfolded on Friday the Thirteenth.  The day is noted as a day of bad luck, and this year, it truly shows in many horrible and truly gruesome ways.

The largest event that is happening is the terrorist attack that sprung out across Paris. A total of six sites have been attacked, consisting of high-profile places such as a soccer stadium and a concert hall, and also some more low-profile places such as restaurants. As of this writing, this the death toll has climbed to 153 people. Countries and people around the world are showing their care and thoughts with the hashtag #PrayForParis

The next event is that happened today was an earthquake that occurred in Japan. The earthquake is reported to have reach anywhere between a 6.5 to a 7.0, meaning it was reported as a major tremor. A report is not yet currently out on how many were injured or passed. An advisory is currently out on a 30 centimeter tsunami on it’s way for Japan, hence the trending  #PrayForJapan hashtag.

Additionally, tragedy struck Baghdad in the form of another terrorist attack. A bomber was said to have attacked a Mosque. Reports are shown that anywhere between 24 and 40 people were reported dead. #PrayForBaghdad

More terror also hit Lebanon with ISIS starting their attacks there. Another two bombers attacked the streets of Beirut and 46 people are said to have been killed. #PrayForLebanon

This day is another tragic day to mark down in history. The reports are leaving many people disgusted and uneasy. ISIS is proving more and more each day to be a problem and their greatest weapon is fear. Many Americans have stated that we not only as a country need to band together, but we as a world need to put aside our differences and join together as people. #PrayForHumanity
