For this week’s games, half of them are found where people are least likely to watch: Group of Five Games. You still have the known teams, but unless you like the bottom feeders of this beautiful sport, you most likely have not known about the insanity that goes on. What happens when most of the lights are not shined on these teams? What follows is a loss of order, a declaration of chaos, and Iowa putting up 40 points in an actual football game.
Week 9:
UTSA @ Tulsa: Tulsa wins 46-45
At one point, UTSA was up 42-17 with five minutes left in the third quarter. Then, Tulsa decided to have the greatest comeback of this year, dropping four straight touchdowns on their next four drives. And then they proceeded to win the game by one point when all was said and done. Oh, and this would be Tulsa’s only conference game win this year, while UTSA went on to win a bowl game as well.
Nevada @ Hawai’i: Hawai’i wins 34-13
One of the best parts about College Football is the 11:59 pm, on the East Coast game hosted by the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors. A game in which only the most true and sicko fan will stay up, even when all the great matches happened earlier in the day. And in this case, this would be the Warriors’ best win all season by putting 34 on the Wolf Pack…with their running back, Brayden Schager, putting up all four touchdowns of the Warriors.
Northwestern @ Iowa: Iowa wins 40-14!
Iowa put up 40 points in a college football match. 40 points. The Iowa Hawkeyes. Yes, their QB, Brenden Sullivan, did not throw for a single touchdown, and yes, their QB threw for less than 100 yards, and yes, he also ran for one. And yes, all of their touchdowns came from either their defense holding the Wildcats to two touchdowns while gaining a pick-six, as well as their running back, Kaleb Johnson, accounting for three touchdowns.
Week 10:
SMU @ Pitt: SMU wins 48-25
This game was going to decide the true dark horse of the conference. If everything went to crap and Miami started to stutter, one of these teams will ursep the seat for the ACC. The AAC newcomer, SMU, showed up. As for the Pitt Panthers…” Hey Alexa, play the Days of our Lives theme!”. That would be the end of the Pitt Panthers’ season right there.
Texas Tech @ Iowa State: Texas Tech wins 23-22
Texas Tech managed to beat both the BIG12 teams that were in the championship game, Iowa St and Arizona St, respectively. However, their chaos factor wasn’t of the cursed power of the Kansas Jayhawks, so all they’ll get is a win that went under the radar the moment the game was done. And not winning their bowl game was just the cherry on top for another good but forgettable season.
Wyoming @ New Mexico: Wyoming wins 49-45
94 points were scored in this game, with new Wyoming QB Kaden Anderson accounting for 49 of these points. It’s always the games that feature a group of five schools that give the people a fast-paced matchup with defenses turned off. But no, the people want to see that between the giants of the football world, instead of the teams that play with barely any norms pertaining to the top conferences! You want a high-scoring, high-paced game: watch the group of five schools that absolutely no average CFB fan would ever watch. That’s your gold mine!
