Since October 7th 2023, there has been a bloody war raging throughout the Middle East—especially in Israel and the Gaza Strip (Palestine). There is a good chance you may have seen news about the war on your social media feeds, heard it during conversations at the dinner table, or overheard people talking about it in public. Since it has been almost 16 months of endless fighting, many people still ask, “what is the future of this war,” or “when will this war end?” What is going to happen?
According to Holland and Knight, since president-elect Trump won the election on November 6th 2024, he has been stating that he will continue to support Israel. However, he is stating that Netanyahu needs to get the war over with soon. Written in BBC news, the U.S. secretary to the United Nations rejected the proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza. Secretary Wood’s speech detailed how it would send a dangerous message to Hamas, stating they would not be held accountable for the taking of hostages with the deal proposed by the U.N. But since Trump and the U.N. cannot go into Israel and stop the war themselves, what is the situation looking like between the leaders in the Middle East?
Written in a Reuters article from December 11th 2025, there is progress showing that a ceasefire deal is on its way. In this deal, all of the hostages taken in Israel are released. In return, Israel will give Palestinian prisoners to Gaza, aid into Gaza will be increased by Israel, and fighting will cease.
There are signs pointing that this war will be ending sometime soon, whether it be from Trump’s suggestions to stop fighting, from the U.N.’s proposal, or by their own approval of their own deal.
Hopefully once this war comes to a close, there will be a long period of peace in the region. Hopefully, citizens from all nations can prosper without battered, bruised, or killed from the horrendous effects of war.
