SPOILERS!!! Don’t read unless you want to know the events of the Episode.
Today is the second day of the new What If season. In this episode, we watch Agatha Harkness played by Kathryn Hahn a 17th century witch as she finds herself acting for the big screens. Agatha does this to overtake the Marvel “gods” and become powerful. With the help of the director and genius Howard Stark played by Dominic Cooper and the ancient actor and Eternal Kingo played by Kumail Nanjiani, they make a movie. Agatha than shows down with the Celestial god Arishem to become the most powerful witch in the world.
I think this episode was amazing. Throughout the episode, there is a 50’s black-and-white art style. This along with the last episode’s morning cartoon’s art style gives character not seen in past seasons. The return of Agatha is great with the humor making fun of early acting and movie production being interesting. The dance number was a great way to break up the episode and the fight scene was phenomenal. The mixture of newer MCU characters along with older ones was quite refreshing. However, the cliche messages at the end do dock a few points in creativity.
With all the fight scenes, endearing plot, and amazing art style this is an amazing episode. I give it 4.8/5 ☆’s and a recommended watch.
See you tomorrow for Episode 3: “What if…The Red Guardian Stopped The Winter Soldier?”
