Presidential Policies are the basis of any presidential administration, shaping the country’s direction and impacting its citizens’ lives. President-elect Donald Trump’s policies span a wide range of areas, each with its challenges and objectives. From managing an economy to securing the nation, all while advancing international relations to addressing social issues, his policies are designed to promote the nation’s well-being. Below, explore Trump’s plans for his next four years in office.
Economic Policies
Trump starts most of his plans by stating that he will undo what was previously set by the Harris-Biden administration. He has blamed them for harmful actions by saying things such as the Harris-Biden administration has destroyed America’s jobs and contributed to higher inflation. Trump’s vision is to lower tax rates, create more job opportunities for Americans, and create larger paychecks. His plan for taxes is to extend his tax overhaul from 2017 that cuts taxes for individuals and businesses, with a few notable changes such as lowering the corporate income tax rate from 20% to 15%. Additionally, he plans to fix the economy in ways such as implementing a 4-year national “reshoring” plan for America to no longer rely on foreign countries, specifically China, for essential medical and security goods in an attempt to ban Chinese ownership of all critical infrastructure in America. Trump is choosing to distrust foreign markets to suggest tariffs such as 10% to 20% on foreign goods. Trump believes it will bring supply chains back and make America the manufacturing superpower of the world.
Social Policies
Trump has many plans regarding his future social policies. Starting with education, he intends to cut federal funding for any school or program that enforces Critical Race Theory or gender ideology on children, as well as conduct civil rights investigations into school districts that discriminate based on race. He will veto any malicious attempt to weaponize civics education, keep boys out of girls’ sports, and reward states and school districts that stop teacher tenure in grades K-12. As well as take on merit pay for teachers, create a Parental Bill of Rights, and start parent elections for school principals. Concerning drug trafficking, Trump has stated that he will impose penalties on drug cartels to dismantle them. He plans to propose to Congress the death penalty for drug smugglers and traffickers. Furthermore, he intends to provide our veterans with better care and benefits than before. In terms of health, he intends to repeal all COVID-19 mandates and restore medical freedom by eliminating surprise medical billing, increasing fairness through price transparency, and further lowering the cost of prescription drugs and health insurance. Finally, he promises to uphold constitutional rights such as the right to bear arms, the right to pray in public schools and free speech. He will fire any federal employee who illegally censors American citizens’ speech and will pass a digital bill aimed at limiting the ability of large social media platforms to restrict free expression.
Government Policy
Trump’s government policies are founded on honesty and justice. He intends to increase funding for police department revitalization and officer retraining, as well as increasing the penalties for assaulting law enforcement officers. To rid Washington, D.C. of corruption, Trump will conduct a thorough investigation of the federal bureaucracy. He will advocate for term limits for members of Congress and a permanent ban on taxpayer funds going to campaigns. Members of Congress are also prohibited from trading stocks that contain insider information. Finally, he is committed to the integrity of elections by verifying the identity and eligibility of those seeking to vote. He intends to pass an extensive number of critical election measures, including banning unsecured voting boxes and ballot harvesting. Most importantly, stopping private money from being allowed to pour into local election offices.
National Security and Foreign Policy
Trump hasn’t given away many details about his national security agenda, but he intends to rebuild America’s reputation and leadership in the world by growing the military and constructing a cutting-edge missile defense system. Regarding foreign policy, he has stated that he will be able to put an end to both the Israel-Hamas war and the Russian war in Ukraine, but he has not provided many specifics.
Immigration Policy
Trump has frequently stated his stance on immigration policy over the years. He announced that he would carry on constructing the wall that was being built between America and Mexico during his last term of office. Trump will establish a merit-based immigration system and enforce stricter border control laws to deport criminals and illegal immigrants. Last but not least, he has advocated for “ideological screening” of potential applicants, which would eliminate birthright citizenship.
