The Giants season is over, and I am sick and tired of watching Daniel Jones be our quarterback. I am already over this season, and looking toward the future. So, here is my take on who the Giants should take in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At this point, the Giants have the 2nd overall pick (which could very much change). So, I will be making my predictions based on this. I am assuming the Jaguars would take Hunter with the first overall pick, as they already have their franchise QB in Trevor Lawrence.
It’s really between 4 guys for me: Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, Quinn Ewers, and Jalen Milroe. If I am being honest, all of these guys are better than Jones, so I would be happy with any of them. However, I have my favorites in mind. The way I am going to do this is I’m going to rank each QB 1-4, 1 being who I think we should draft the most, 4 being the least, and give my thoughts on each.
#4: Jalen Milroe
Don’t get me wrong, I love Milroe’s game. He is a great dual-threat QB with a great arm and great mobility. It’s simply that the other guys on this list are extremely talented. Milroe has an overall draft grade of 84.3, which is 4th among all QB prospects. Milroe is described as having elite athleticism, a strong arm, creativity, great poise, and a great leader. He is listed at 6 ‘2’’, 225 lbs, and has led the explosive Alabama offense the entire season. My only concern with Milroe, why I have him at 4, is his inconsistent mechanics and decision-making. He has thrown 13 interceptions to 9 touchdowns this season, which is a little high for me. Last season he threw 23 interceptions against 10 touchdowns, which throws me off. He is projected to be a late-round pick, meaning it would most likely be too much of a reach to take Milroe in this sport. Great prospect, but not the best that the Giants could get.
#3: Shedeur Sanders
Surprising to some, I have Sanders as my 3rd option for this year’s draft. Although highly recognized as the best quarterback in this draft, I have some concerns from what I have seen when watching Colorado football. Sometimes he often tends to rely on Travis Hunter, who is recognized as the best receiver in college. Not necessarily a bad thing as the Giants have a great #1 option in Nabers. However, some of the throws he attempts to hit are of high risk, as he is sometimes overconfident in his throwing abilities. What makes him a great prospect is his processing ability, lethal accuracy, good poise, and great timing and ball security. Not as athletic as Milroe, but still can use his legs when needed to make plays. He has much better numbers than Milroe, throwing for 2882 yards so far this season with a 72.9 completion percentage. He has thrown 24 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions, proving he can put up big numbers when needed. I would not be angry if this was our selection, but I like Ewers and Ward just a little bit more. (Sanders’ song, Perfect Timing, also annoys me, which weighs greatly in my decision).
#2: Quinn Ewers
I like Ewers as a prospect. Despite getting injured and missing a few games this season, what I have seen from him impresses me. He is a natural-born leader with playmaking abilities. He has a natural side arm and quick release points and is known to be an extremely versatile passer. His draft grade is 85.4, which although it is not as high as Sanders’ 91.3, I would feel more confident as Ewers being my Quarterback going into next season. However, at times his mechanics become inconsistent, and he is not as mobile as some of the other prospects. Despite this, I think he is a great quarterback that would be great for the Giants going forward. He’s not as good as my #1 though.
#1: Cam Ward
Ward has grown immensely since his Freshman year and is now highly touted as one of the best quarterback prospects from this rookie draft. He has led Miami to a 9-1 record, throwing for 3494 passing yards and 32 touchdowns to just 6 interceptions. He is characterized as having a great arm, great decision-making, quick release, and good leadership, and is known as a major dual threat. His limited weakness is that he struggles with drive-to-drive consistency, but this can be developed under a system that Brian Daboll brings to him. Overall, I would love Cam Ward to be the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, and I think this pick would be a great step forward in the right direction.
