The varsity girls’ tennis team at Freehold Township High School has been a source of pride, showcasing incredible talent and sportsmanship. This season, the team aimed to continue its legacy of excellence and welcomed some fresh faces ready to make their mark.
The 2024 Varsity Girls’ Tennis team, coached by Coach Leahy, was led by Captains and Seniors Anya Dureja and Mia DesRochers. This season’s lineup consisted of skilled players. The first singles position was Captain Anya Dureja. The second singles position was freshman Julia Coniglio. The third singles position was junior Atreyi Menon. Moving on to doubles, the first doubles duo were Captain and Senior Mia DesRochers alongside Senior Carolyn Chang. Lastly, the second doubles duo was Seniors Chinmayi Palya and Megan Zachary.
They started off the season great with two, 5-0 wins against Freehold Borough and Shore. They lost one game against Colts Neck but picked right back up with a 4-1 win against Red Bank Catholic. They qualified for the Shore Conference Tournament and won the first round 4-1 versus Wall and won the second round 3-2 against Ranney. They made it all the way to the quarter-finals, before sadly losing to Rumson-Fair Haven. They also competed in the NJSIAA Tournament, making it once again to the quarter-finals before losing 5-0 to East Brunswick. The 2024-2025 girls’ tennis season finished with Freehold Township winning the majority of its games, ending with a final score of 8-6.
