The annual FTHS Pep Rally, which took place on Friday, October 18th, was definitely an event to remember. Here’s what you might’ve missed:
First of all, once the student body got on the bleachers, the fall athletes made their way onto the football field in order to be recognized by the MC of the day, Mr. Leahy. This included girls and boys cross country, field hockey, football, cheerleading, tennis, girls and boys soccer, and football. Mr. Leahy would go on to highlight
each team’s team’s achievements, senior class, and leadership. But, before this could happen, the marching band and cheerleading team made appearances in order to show off their halftime performances that they would also do later on at the game. The cheerleaders, advised by Mrs. Keegan and led by Captains Kaia To, Valentina Collabelli, and Mackenzie Miller, put on a great show full of amazing flips, kicks, and stunts, and was overall very fun to watch. On the other hand, the marching band, advised by Mr. Gattsek and led by Drum Majors Riley Talerico-Dovel and Thea Ekizian, played two songs from infamous metal band Metallica, which felt like true rock n’ roll.
Then, the announcements were made for underclassmen Homecoming court. Everyone was on the edge of their seats while waiting for the prince and princesses to be called. First, Mr. Leahy celebrated the freshman prince and princess, who turned out to be
Giuseppe Roman and Emily Ryszetnyk. In an interview by the Patriot Press, they mentioned how the pep rally was their “favorite part of homecoming week”. Sophomore winners included Natalie Briggs and Shrivatsan Nandakumar, who both brought up in their interview how they were shocked and excited to hear their names be called. Moving on, the juniors’ princess was Mariah Andujar and the prince was Dean Macksoud. Then, last but not least, the senior class Homecoming court was announced as follows: Nick Cardone, Jackson Klein, Grant Feldman, Daniel Schmidt, Samuel Fung, Abi Milano, Sydney Friedenberg, Chloe Walters, Kaia To, Mackenzie Miller, and Valentina Collabelli. The King and Queen, Nick and Valentina, would go on to be crowned at the game.
Finally, to conclude the rally, the infamous “Pie-in-the-Face” ceremony occurred. This year, the student body chose Mr. Tepedino to be pied by school mascot Patty the Patriot. All the students certainly had such fun time watching as the pie went from Patty’s hand to right onto Me. Tepedino’s face.
All in all, as always, the students and teachers of Freehold Township High School all had an amazing time at this year’s pep rally. It certainly did it’s job, as many students jumped and cheered as the several aspects of the rally went on. However, this would not be without all the amazing contributions, skills, and accomplishments from the amazing students and staff found at FTHS. Go Pats!
