I want to begin this article by saying that I don’t often watch movies, but biopics are always an exception to me. I am deeply fascinated by U.S. History, and biopics allows me to live in a time that I’ve never lived in. As soon as the new Ronald Reagan movie was announced, I knew I had to check it out. And this film certainly exceeded my expectations!
Reagan, as I write this, was released about a month ago on August 30, 2024. It has grossed an astounding $27 million dollars.
For quite some time now, I had a fond interest in Reagan’s life and presidency, and felt I could relate to him on a certain level. I frequently studied the 40th president of the United States, searching for reasons as to why we Americans consider him so great. The new film is incredible in the sense that it not only entails the aspects of Reagan’s presidency, but his life in general, which can resonate with viewers. It is bound to also appeal to people interested in twentieth century American history.
Reagan is versatile considering many topics, and uncovers the sheer emotion behind politics many are unaware of. Dennis Quaid, who starred as Reagan, did a phenomenal job nonetheless. I felt I was watching the ultimate transfiguration of him on screen, and that really cannot be emulated. I rate this movie an 11/10– one point extra for the pathos.
