Full House is Back on Air!

John Ross, Staff Writer

After years of reruns, the hit 90’s comedy Full House is returning to television… kind of.

The new series — Fuller House — will air on Netflix, a paid online subscription to thousands of movies and television programs. The original show has remained extremely successful after almost twenty years off air, with reruns daily on TV channels like TeenNick. A whole new generation of viewers, some not even born until the show was cancelled, have discovered the show and became loyal fans.  Netflix shows have proven to be huge hits in recent years, with shows like Orange is the New Black and Bates Motel receiving much praise and recognition, so expectations are high.

So what can we expect from the new series?  We don’t really know yet, since he show is expected to be released in 2016; viewers still have a while to wait before seeing any new content.

But who is expected to return as cast members? John Stamos (Uncle Jessie), Candace Cameron Bure (DJ Tanner), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner), and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibler) are all expected to return in main roles in the new show. Other original characters, like Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) and Michelle Tanner (Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen) are also anticipated to make guest appearances throughout the show, but have not yet agreed to having a full-time role.

The plot of this new sitcom is pretty much the same as the original, with gender roles reversed. DJ Tanner is now a grown single mom, trying to raise three sons with the help of her sister, Stephanie, and her best friend, Kimmy. The show was originally set to be a movie, but producers soon agreed that a full length series would be more enticing.

Revival series have become popular in the past few years, with nostalgia running high. Shows like Boy meets World have been transformed into Girl Meets World and so on, so it seems that this new series is sure to be a success.

With such loyal fans still watching almost twenty years later, a new production is sure to satisfy viewers of all ages.
