Artificial intelligence, or AI, has become an integral part of our modern world. From voice assistants like Siri and Alexa to self-driving cars and personalized recommendations on social media, AI has revolutionized the way we live, work, and interact with technology. With its ability to process vast amounts of data, learn from experience, and make decisions, AI has the potential to shape the future in ways we can only imagine. In this article, we will explore the impact of AI on various aspects of society and delve into the opportunities and challenges it presents.
I would like to begin this by sharing a fun fact; I did not write the opening paragraph of this article. In order to come up with the words you just read, I opened the Snapchat app on my phone, pressed on the “My AI” chatbot feature, and typed a simple request: “Can you write me an opening paragraph for an article about artificial intelligence?”
Within seconds, I had a perfectly believable response.
In recent months, the increase in the ability of artificial intelligence that the general public has access to has been extraordinary. From being able to create fake covers of songs with the voice of almost any public figure of your choosing (from President Biden to Taylor Swift), to being able to paint a very realistic picture of imaginary Disney World resorts, to being able to write an entire essay in mere seconds. Although there are many tools that come with artificial intelligence, the jury is still out in the court of public opinion.
In an article by Forbes discussing “The 15 Biggest Risks Of Artificial Intelligence”, one of the most widespread worries people have is concerns about privacy and transparency. It is stated that AI technologies often collect and analyze large amounts of personal data in order to formulate responses, raising issues related to data privacy and security. It is also mentioned that to mitigate privacy risks, it is important to advocate for strict data protection regulations and safe data handling practices.
Another concern many individuals have about the emergence of artificial intelligence is the possibility of job displacement. In the aforementioned Forbes article, the author also states that AI-driven automation has the potential to lead to job losses across various industries. However, as a counterpoint, there appears to be evidence that AI and other emerging technologies will create more jobs than they eliminate. Either outcome is a serious possibility, and it is difficult to predict exactly how this development will unfold.
All in all, it is evident that artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly common part of our daily lives, for better or worse. At this point in time, however, it is up to each person to decide just how heavily they would like to rely on the technologies we have access to. It is important to remember that, if you choose to rely on these technologies, to be responsible. Your actions will always have consequences, and integrity is a beneficial trait to have. For right now, we will continue to watch as new technologies we never even fathomed are developed and see them come into the public grasp.
Who knows? Fifty years from now, articles may type themselves.

Love from Elaine Weeden.
P.S. this old lady thinks AI will become very dangerous.
