Pop Poetry: Twisted

Beau Romanowski, Staff Writer

Valentine’s Day is the best day of the year because

I love, love, and love, loves endlessly

Mainly on the eve of February 14th,

Because that is when

St. Valentine had wed all the soldiers to show them love,

To teach it to them and allow them to feel it

before they died in battle.

I love Valentine’s Day,

Though I’m usually alone, I can’t complain

Because I’m distracted by the ultra happy holiday for love, Where you can get chocolate, dinner, candy, movies,

and someone to share your life with.

I’m not so sure how I feel about Valentine’s Day,

The day hasn’t been going well

I said “will you be my valentine?”

and she doesn’t want to be mine.

So I’ll get a gift just from my parents

Cause even though sometimes they fight

They spread the love

Because it’s a wonderful wonderful feeling

I love love.

I don’t really like Valentine’s Day

I think a lot of it is really tacky and cliche

If it weren’t for this one day a year maybe a toxic relationship would expire Because you only do what you want to do

When your not forced to show any kind of affection but

Valentine’s day is just like a trophy of participation.

I want to like Valentine’s Day,

I don’t want to feel bitter

Or sad

Or angry

Or mad,

That I don’t have someone to spend it with

But the girl that I loved is so out of touch that All I can do on Valentine’s Day is wait for her

To come back to me.
