Pop Poetry: Even If

Beau Romanowski, Staff Writer

Even if love is as common as everyone says

As common as I have experienced it

Love is still precious and is the rarest of all physical manifestations

And as such I will not take it for granted

Her love is worth more

Though she and by proxy her love for me is unstable

It is potent with the cure for my mind

And holds the happiness i wish to possess

Because to some from the outside we seem abrasive

When we are together

I can be anything I want to be

Everything I can be

Because she brings out the best

And the worst of me

I know I sound like a broken record that keeps on repeating

But I don’t believe she’s on my mind for no reason

That her initials are my favorite letters and

Somehow she tamed the monsters in my brain

The creativity train that never stops

because she has no home destination that is not tied to mine

For our souls to feel forever intertwined

I have never felt so perfect for someone in my life

And I go against everyone I know who keeps saying

She could just be playing with me

She’s untrustworthy

That she’ll leave me broken hearted and scarred before

She truly loves me wholly and how

I don’t believe in anything holy so somehow

My disbelief will be the death of me

That I am somehow lost

But from being broken hearted I did not learn to close myself off

To be wary of her deceptions and spontaneous responses

But by crying a weekend away

Only to come to find she loved me anyway

That we could still be friends was enough

I need her in my life

I just wish I could be enough for those in hers

That my disrespect for some power higher up

Does not shake her moral keepers as I push my luck

And fight

Blood, Sweat, and Smiles

Until

 she can

 be mine

 again.

Until we can have each other.
