Parks and Rec: The Final Season
March 7, 2015
Sadly, the final season of Parks and Rec is upon us.
The sitcom, created by Amy Poehler is now in its final (seventh) season. The show premiered in 2009, and originally it was expected to fail, but surprisingly was renewed by NBC for a second season. Ever since then, the show has become a hit.
With a wide variety of amusing characters, like April Ludgate, a depressed and somewhat evil secretary; Tom Haverford, an extremely ambitious and somewhat conceited “entrepreneur”; and of course Leslie Knope, the perky protagonist who brings everyone together. But in this final season, viewers see something very different than in the past.
This season of Parks is set in the future, in the year 2017. We see all the characters going through major changes in the 3-year jump from the last season. Tom is running a successful business, without the “help” of Jean Ralphio, Donna is getting married, and Leslie and Ben are raising their triplets. The once sad town of Pawnee, only known for being the “4th Fattest City in America” is now a bustling town thanks to all of Leslie’s hard work. We also see fan favorite characters make returns, like Tammy and Jen Barkley. Overall, although the season is different and somewhat shocking at first, its nice to see all the characters everyone is so attached to living their lives happily in the years ahead.
From a fan’s perspective, I like this season but it is not my favorite season out of all. Overall, it was time to end the series, with a very successful 6 year run which is almost unheard of with many sitcoms on television today. But with Parks and Recreation, the cast rather than the storylines always brought the viewers back. All of the main characters and secondary characters are so unique and can easily be placed and related to someone in a viewers life, which is awesome.
In conclusion, the final season of Parks and Recreation will surely make you laugh and is worth your time to watch.
