James Charles Scandal

The YouTuber James Charles has been a popular topic this past week because of his major subscriber decrease. Prior to this whole scandal, Charles had roughly 16 million subscribers, and as of now he has around 13.4 million, with this number continuing to decrease. So what actually happened that caused a social media uproar surrounding James Charles?

All this drama started when Charles promoted a company on his Instagram called Sugar Bear Hair, which was one of his best friends’ number one competitor for their own gummy brand. This best friend, Tati Westbrook, who is another YouTuber, was upset by Charles’ disregard for her feelings after being one of his biggest supporters. James attempted to apologize and claimed the sponsorship only happened because he was having security issues at Coachella and that he was doing the sponsorship in return for Sugar Bear Hair helping with this security issue. Tati did not accept this apology and her and others have the belief that the security issue was just a cover up story that James came up with to justify the sponsorship. In reaction to what Charles had done, Tati made a YouTube video to further explain how she felt and officially end her friendship with James. Tati claims that she does not want to be associated with Charles because of his disregard for her in the sponsorship situation, and another reason that was first brought to light by her.

This reason is that James has been allegedly sexually pressuring and manipulating straight men into doing what he wants. In most cases where men have come out to tell of their interactions with the YouTuber, they say that Charles has reacted very poorly and angrily when they explain that they are not interested. In some of these cases James will explicitly say that they are wrong for identifying as straight and that they must be interested in men. In her now famous YouTube video, Tati recalls a time where she and James were at her birthday dinner together with other family and friends and James kept asking the staff about a waiter whom he found attractive. Tati attempted to stop this behavior by saying, “James, he’s straight.” According to Tati, Charles responds, “Doesn’t matter, I’m a celebrity.”

After this video was posted exposing James Charles’ alleged behavior, it has become a very popular topic across social media and has resulted in a dramatic decrease in James’ subscribers, a dramatic increase in Tati’s subscribers, and friends of both James and Tati stepping forward to defend one side of the story. More and more men have been coming forward with their stories of James Charles’ “predatory” behavior. Many people that have been following this drama have one big question: will James Charles be able to come back from this scandal?

New Addition To Kardashian Family

Last week on Friday morning, Kim Kardashian announced that her fourth child had been born over social media. Kim tweeted, “He’s here and he’s perfect,” and then added, “He’s also Chicago’s twin lol I’m sure he will change a lot but now he just looks like her.” The baby was reportedly born on Thursday evening and weighed in at 6 lbs, 9 oz. Additionally on Thursday, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim’s sister, shared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that Kim and Kanye were currently in the hospital for the birth of their son.
