What Occurs In the Brain While Exercising

Exercising has been proven to help the human body in many different ways. The activities done while working out not only help the physical aspects of the body, but it helps the mental and emotional aspects as well.

During this process, it has been validated that the blood flow increases in the brain, as the heart rate increases. When the blood flow increases, the brain becomes exposed to more oxygen and nutrients. Along with that, chemicals such as dopamine are released, which help to create more happiness.

The proteins released throughout increased activity help to keep the human brain cells healthy. The effects of healthy cells are astonishing as they allow the production of over a hundred neurotransmitters, a chemical substance which is imperative for the regular maintenance of the brain.

 

Effects on the Brain After exercising

After exercising, the effects on the human body are just as astonishing. The results greatly impact the brain as it helps to eliminate the chemicals that creates stress and anxiety.

Along with that, there is a great reduction in the odds of developing heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Helping to increase the life expectancy of an average human being, physical changes can be seen as well as the body becomes stronger, and the weight decreases.

The verbal memory and learning skills are boosted, improving areas such as academics. Dr. Scott McGinnis, a neurologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an instructor in neurology at Harvard Medical School states that, ¨Even more exciting is the finding that engaging in a program of regular exercise of moderate intensity over six months or a year is associated with an increase in the volume of selected brain regions,”.  Given this, it can be demonstrated that physical activity has an amazing impact on areas such as focus and memory.
